There are tons of great driving roads in the LA area but the biggest advantage of this loop is that because it is so remote there is nobody around to spoil the fun.
Ever driven Balcom Canyon Rd between Moorpark and Fillmore? Not very long but very fun!
Strangely enough...there was a standard 1965 G.T.350 at the Montecito Cars and Coffee last weekend that I got to check out as well.
Was really cool to compare street car to street car over 50 years later.
This R was pretty nuts and I had never seen one in person. If you notice the plexi...
Fortunately this is a small audience to share with and I have no fear of clogging up empty roads.

Over 200 miles of mostly twisty and desolate two lane 55 MPH highways with a lot of tight turns to have fun without speeding. There are some pretty long...
Yeah, I'm guessing using average real world transaction prices the R is actually more than the GS. If fast lap times alone are what someone wants obviously the GS is a better value. It is an impressive package.
I was referencing MSRP more as a barometer of how much engineering/materials $$$...
I have about 900 miles on factory spring, 500 miles with no spring, and will be trying the Steeda spring soon so will find out if I like that more than none at all.
I wasn't dissapointed by the R as much as shocked by just how fast the Grand Sport was.
That being said, a few things to keep in mind:
With the Z07 package the Grand Sport is quite pricey - probably ~ $20K more than the R so I'd hope you get some extra performance for that coin. Both are a...
One of the cool things about most motorcycle track comparisons is that they'll usually run all bikes on the same rubber to eliminate that variable.
Would be interesting to see the R on Pilot Super Sports vs. the Cup 2s to see how much of that quick lap time is tire vs. CF wheels and other...
Exactly. Having done it I could do it again in less than 30 seconds.
I can't compare to a 2016, but the 2017 is still wonky with the stock spring. With no spring at all I don't find the clutch excessively heavy and it is so much easier to modulate and shift smoothly.
I had some pliers on hand but because you have to depress the clutch with one hand working with tools is a little awkward. I didn't think i would be able to compress it but decided to try anyway. You need only need to compress it about 1/4 - 1/2" at most so it is easier than you'd think. Plus...
I watched that vid but decided it was a little overkill. With the clutch fully depressed you barely need to compress the spring to get it out so it doesn't really explode if you are doing it by hand. The bottom 1/2 of the assembly just falls to the floor - hence the towels.
This is the normal process if the selling dealer is not registering the car on your behalf.
I signed a form with the NM dealer which basically said I would pay for any additional funds needed and they would refund me for any excess tax or fees collected. Since they are handling the...
Thanks to everyone here on the forums for the great feedback and instructions previously posted.
I bought the car on a Saturday, got home Sunday, and removed the stock spring Monday night. If I realized just how easy it was and how much better it feels I would have done it at the dealership...
I live in CA but purchased from NM. They collected all taxes and fees and will register for me. All I had to do was get a VIN verification done for them at the DMV to send in with the paperwork.
Close - based on text messages :)
My point was that this came together very quickly and buying a new car is not something I would consider risky. Due diligence is always wise but that process took about 30 minutes.
I'll have a full story up about the adventure once I finish writing it.
You are making an assumption that I didn't have it in writing. I had a deal screen ahead of time and sent over all my info like driver's license, insurance, etc. so paperwork was already prepped when I arrived.
Just look elsewhere. You are close to so many states where 16s will be MSRP or less and 17s will be less than $5K ADM.
Searching in Nebraska, Ohio, Kansas, Missouri, etc will save you thousands. You can get direct flights from O'Hare to pretty much anywhere for cheap and have a nice drive home.
Back in my sales days, I sold new and used cars all over the country sight unseen and never had one complaint.
I found a deal on a 2017 at 3pm and and booked a flight leaving at 7pm. Yeah, things could have gone sideways but had no issues signing and driving away the next day.
I could...
