Go for it! I’m chasing solutions as well on my 17 GT. We got the grill basically blocking the filter housing “snorkel” that I’m considering opening up. My car is a weekend driver so I’m not too worried about weather/debris.
Only one way to find out!!
Chasing the coldest air usually means exposing the filter to the elements more and more. It’s all up to your level of risk tolerance to place the filter where-ever.
I think you’d be okay leaving the filter there assuming all of the plastics are in good shape. Opening...
I don’t think so, especially if you open vents up to expose it to the moving air.
I usually consider the intakes that ride down into the wheel well to be one of the true “Cold air” set ups. You do have to worry about water/debris with the filter down there though.
Not too much to critique here besides the $7,000 in labor. ID the shop rate and estimate the hours. Even at $200/hr thats saying a full work week (35hrs) is being put into your car.
How does this impact IATs? Any noticeable increase in hood movement while driving? Considering the same to make better use of the snorkel Ford Performance provides with the GT350 intake.
What exactly does the slop feel like? Difficulty getting into gears at speed/heavy throttle? Or can you feel the differential/trans assembly “shuffling” around under the cabin?
I’m glad you think ahead. During disassembly I just tear everything apart with the full power/air tool arsenal and then purchase anything that breaks LOL.
I have had the fortunate experience of not having to dabble with the front end of my stock coyote so I really don’t know what the torque specs are. This being stuck enough to turn it loose would be hilarious.
But they don’t need to turn it in the direction of loosening! The flywheel just needs...
This might be it. Plugs out + breaker bar attached to crank bolt left against the floor. This might allow enough movement to rotationally “impact” the flywheel loose.
not sure on cost, I’d estimate atleast a few hundred for 2-3hrs labor + parts.
do you need struts/want to upgrade? You can get them done at the same time for basically “free” labor wise if you’re paying for spring replacement.
Marketing says progressive drives comfier for daily drivers. Linear performs better (for those that push the car and can use the predictability of the springs to push the limits).
If it’s comfort you seek and you want to hit the progressive train, Steeda’s probably the forum favorite.
At $80...

It’s all relative, 5W is thinner than 10W at the same temp just as 30 is thinner than 40 at the same temps.
