You're correct, but just because your car isn't allowed at a racetrack doesn't mean it's not a performance car, it simply means it isn't a track car.

Nowadays most well engineered convertibles perform equally well to their hard topped brethren, the only difference being the weight gain of roof mechanicals. There seems to be this strange old-school mentality around here that the only performance car is one with a hard top and a manual...
Do it. I highly recommend the scottsdale area where I live, a Mecca of beautiful people and speed limits are literally a suggestion. Not to mention the cars... Drool

Likewise I'd only casually browsed other options before. Now I'm starting to get more serious. Even if they're going to withhold specs if they haven't finalized them, at least give us the price.

Agreed on the tire advantage. As far as a live axle setup that outperforms on the track you'll run into two problems. One that kind of setup is quite expensive (I've run a vintage boss with one and the cost is outrageous) and two this is a road car, a live axle purpose built to out handle irs...
I track my car out at IMR in Arizona, and a handful of other tracks in the sopac region.
Honestly weight hasnt ever been the thing that's been holding the mustang back on the track. It's that damn suspension and the brakes. If this IRS set up is as good as they say it is and they've eliminated...

On public tracks they can't, you're correct, but members/club tracks you can (or at least the one I drive at anyways) and even if they couldn't, the different gearing and recaro seats would be nice to have nonetheless.
But I suppose that's what the aftermarket...
You're probably right. Still saddens me that they won't offer any of the performance options, pp/tp or recaros on convertibles.
