I was in D, with Sport mode selected. Stayed in first and showed no signs of changing to second.

I was turning onto a street and from out of nowhere, my tranny didn't catch second and my rpm's shot up to about 5k and hung there until I switched out of Sport mode. After that ran fine in normal mode for an hour and a half. Haven't tried sport mode again since. Any ideas?

I say can the OTS and get Adam's time for life. You won't regret it.
