great review...please don't hate me when I say this but you should check your spelling of the word definitely. I never understand why this word is so commonly misspelled.
Nice write up. I am coming from a BRZ and I can attest it's very hard to find a car that FEELS as fun as an 86. I think it's hilarious when people look at the numbers and say, "man those FRS/BRZ really suck, just look at the 0-60!" (etc, etc). A few things people need to realize about those...
FWIW, the 228i does 0-60 in 4.9 and 1/4 in 13.7@101 and is rated at 23/36MPG. The 235i does 0-60 in 4.3 and 1/4 in 12.9@109 and is rated at 22/32MPG.
So while I understand that just looking at HP/TQ numbers, it's easy to poopoo them, the fact is they are grossly underrated and will have no...
Feel is a funny thing. My previous car was a BRZ with minor mods (suspension, wheels/tires, exhaust, tune, and I ran e85). With the power mods, the car made around 235hp at the crank...sooo...not a lot. However, due to the seating position being so low, the car having essentially no sound...
Yeah, I drove a PP GT too. It really doesn't feel that fast. The numbers don't lie though, it does actually go pretty fast. It's just so buttoned down and way too damn quiet. Also, the stock tune is too conservative. With an exhaust and tune, I suspect you'd change your mind.
Not trying to be a negative Nancy, but the factory tune isn't just pulling power for fun. It's pulling it because it's either sensed a knock condition or high IAT, or something else...
tricking the ECU to ignore that isn't necessarily a good thing.
Pffft...forget the DINAN tune. BMS has 540whp with e40 + tune.

I have been cross-shopping with the M3. In fact, I almost bought one last week for $65k. It had very few options at that price point. The new M3's steering feel is just NOT THAT GREAT. It makes me miss the e9x M3 feel. The new M3's engine sound is not very good, and the fake engine noises...
I'm pretty sure it's not until production starts. I just keep this bookmarked (with my vin in place) and check every now and again :
