So, do you actually have sales data on the PP1 or PP2 vs the 1LE and Hellcat sales? Really? I'd be interested in that.
How do you know the Ford PP2 sells more than the competition's performance packs?
P.S. If you are talking overall Mustang sales, the Mustang was already selling more. So...
Of course.
1 - Wider tires
2 - Grippier tire compound.
3 - Thread pattern optimized for dry handling (accepting the compromise on wet traction)
4 - Lowered, retuned suspension, specific to circuit driving
5 - Slightly less lift (better downforce to counteract lift).
Put it all together and the...
Mustang GT PP2 - the only vehicle in the world with 305-section/Cup 2 tires from the factory that is not intended to be tracked!!!!!
Will certainly make it "special".
Did Ford ever sell an Escort with dedicated track tires?
Manufacturers do not put Cup 2 tires on any car that is not intended to be driven on track - because it makes no sense.
Ford GT350 295-front Pilot Sports street tires = is a track car, deserves coolers.
Ford Mustang GT PP2 305-front, Cup 2 dedicated track tires = is not a track car; does not deserve coolers
All the FanBoyXplaining in the world can't make that work!!!!!
It overheats exactly like me and...
What would be really funny (in a sad way) was if an owner of a 2016 GT360 that overheated on track, sold that and bought a Mustang GT PP2, just to find out it also overheats.
Lets recap.
Ford launches GT350 with regular street tires. It overheats on track, after a year and a law suit Ford adds the coolers as standard.
Ford lunches Mustang GT Level 2 PP (PP2) with dedicated 305-front dedicated track tires (Cup 2s).
C&D tests a couple of dozen cars at VIR, same day...
I don't know. Look under the GT350 or Camaro SS1LE or a Vette Grandsport - let me know if you see that crap hanging down.
And on top of that I know it was tested for hundreds of thousands of miles for durability, has a documented advantage, AND is under warranty.
If you don't know what marbles are, then you haven't been on track much and are not in a position to assess the Mustang GT PP2 overheating tendencies. Best of luck.
LOL. Lets be clear what this is. Costs $1,000 + tax + shipping just for the parts. Add multiple hours of labor and you are up at $2,000+
And you end up with what?
I mess of exposed hoses, exposed fan, exposed reservoir under the vehicle, where they will be pelted by rocks, marbles, and other...
Usually don't respond to women on their period or emotional posters, but, in the interest of warning the public, there are Mustang GT PP2 all over the place on dealer lots being sold. Yes, every car is an order. Either end customer order of dealer order.
If you buy one with the intent to use it...
Diff overheating on track is very driver/track dependent. Unless you are being very aggressive on corner exit acceleration, where you'd actually need a LSD, you are unlikely to build up heat. Get on it and they build a ton of heat quickly - heat needs to go somewhere - there are no ifs/buts...
You shouldn't track it. Ford said it is not a track car.
On a serious note, I'm glad it is working for you on your mission. Car was seriously on my short list and with a cooler plus rear brembos would be at the very top.
Sone valid points, also.
I still don't know why anyone would want a daily driver with 305-Cup2 tires if they were never going to track it.
It's like walking around everyday with one condom in each of your four pockets when you have no intentions of having sex.
I have no idea what an SS 1LE has to do with this thread. This is about the Mustang GT PP2.
That is actually a good point. Thanks for pointing that out.
I keep on saying it because it is true. The Mustang GT PP2 was the ONLY car that overheated.
(so stop trying to make excuses and insulting other cars)
The Honda Civic Type R you mentioned is actually one of the cars that C&D highlighted as being able to take all they threw at it and as being a...
I'm sorry but PSC2 are not "fully streatable". Any unsuspecting buyer caught in a rainstorm while daily driving those tires is in for a nasty surprise.
The issue is not the TW. TW is just money. The issue is that the thread depth and void area of the tire makes it unsuitable to be driven in the...
I'd say about the same number of laps they did in the Challenger Hellcat, that did not overheat. Same number of laps they did with all the other cars in the test that did not overheat. Remember only the PP2, and the PP2 only overheated.
Their test process is to have their editors rotate...
You are absolutely correct. No, it is not the end of the world. Yes, there are ways owners can mitigate it.
The issue though, is that this was entirely predictable. Why did Ford feel the need to cheat owners out of a proper cooling package on their level 2 performance package that comes...
Sorry, you can't get away from history. Lets review:
2016 GT350 with street tires = overheats
Owners sue, publicity is horrible
2017 GT350 with street tires = ford adds coolers
2017/2018 GT350 with street tires have all the coolers
2018 Mustang GT PP2 with dedicated track only Cup 2 tires has...
