    It's fake engine sound.
  2. Slashgear Video Review (EcoBoost)

    TERRIBLE. TERRIBLE. TERRIBLE.
  3. Autoblog Review (GT & EcoBoost)

Nice and detailed review. Glad they drove the old car right before testing this one.
  4. Ecoboost loses 13% power on 87 octane [Updated with Ford training materials]

I just posted in another thread about this, but it's entirely possible to lose that much power on 87 with a turbocharged motor. In fact, I'd be shocked if it didn't.
  5. Jalopnik Review (GT)

Ford isn't magic. Find me another small turbocharged 4 that makes over 300hp on regular octane. Be happy that they engineered enough room in the ECU to have smooth drivability on 87. - I had a turbocharged, direct-injected, 2.3 in my Mazdaspeed3. It made 263hp on premium octane. If you...
  6. Do the Reviews Disappoint or Excite you?

lol, sticky compared to all-seasons yeah. But not compared to good summer tires.
  7. Now that reviews are out, any Dyno numbers yet?

They EB is the new motor. People want to see what it is capable of. The 5.0 isn't THAT much different from the old 5.0. Take a dyno of the old 5.0 and overlay a dyno of the old BOSS on top, scooting the BOSS dyno to the left about 500RPM...look between the lines and that's pretty much what...
  8. Jalopnik Review (GT)

I think they will be easy to cure the push. Hell, even the FRS/BRZ has a .8" wider rear track and those are widely considered to be rotation machines. A bit of negative camber up front, a pinch less rear toe in, and a square wheel/tire setup...the s550 will be neutral me thinks.
  9. Jalopnik Review (GT)

OEMs introduce understeer ALL THE TIME. Find me a car that comes from the factory without some. It's incredibly rare. BMW does it, Porsche does it, Mercedes does it...They don't just do this to kill all of your fun, they often do this for legal reasons. Because when cars start spinning out...
  10. Octane for '15 5.0

I would never put 87 octane in a performance engine with high compression that makes more power on higher octane, because all I'd be doing is robbing power and decreasing fuel economy. Unfortunately though, I'll be running 91 because that's all I can get.
  11. Ecoboost loses 13% power on 87 octane [Updated with Ford training materials]

If you look at the dyno that MotorTrend did, you see a rapid drop at 5700rpm which is indicative of a knock-related event pulling timing. I'm willing to bet that running 87 would result in an extremely conservative timing advance from 5300rpm and above, but might not impact much down low...
  12. Ecoboost loses 13% power on 87 octane [Updated with Ford training materials]

I can almost guarantee it's 91 octane in the cars driven here in California and 93 octane in the cars driven in some of those lucky states that get it. Unless FORD brought 93 octane and filled the cars up with it in California, which seems unlikely.
  13. Ecoboost loses 13% power on 87 octane [Updated with Ford training materials]

[1/5/15 UPDATED WITH FORD TRAINING DOCUMENTATION]: It notes that the 2.3L EcoBoost in the new Mustang generates 275HP and 300 LB-FT torque on 87 octane fuel, a loss of 11.3% and 6.25% respectively. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------...
  14. Mini Mustang GT review on "The Truth About Cars"

I think he means "real" as in, actually good. Most BREMBOs (4 or 6 piston) fitted as OEM parts re not anywhere in the league of aftermarket BBK offerings. They look the part though.
  15. R&T Review (GT)

The more you write about the mustang, the happier I get. I can't get excited about modern BMWs And this is coming from someone that has owned numerous BMWs and owned ZERO American cars.
  16. Car and Driver Review (EcoBoost)

The plus side to a turbo is you can make a lot of power out of an engine by cramming more air into it than it can naturally suck in. The other plus side to this is, you might be making good power on a relatively small engine. So in "theory", you can get decent fuel economy. However, this is...
  17. Do the Reviews Disappoint or Excite you?

I remember reading something along these lines by you before. It hurt me to read this then and it hurts me now. My advice: Get a used BMW 335d. 425tq @1700rpm + 36mpg. Don't waste your time with a Coyote V8 lol.
  18. Now that reviews are out, any Dyno numbers yet?

They didn't handicap anything. It's a small turbo that spools almost instantly. This gives you great torque in low rpm with a tradeoff of early dropoff in power. Personally, not my favorite type of powerband for a performance car, but others will disagree.
  19. R&T Review (GT)

I'd consider the M235i if it had factory LSD...yeah I know you can spend a fortune and get one port installed now, whoopdeedoo. I'd also consider the M235i if I wasn't tired of having turbo and other various issues with BMWs.
  20. Do the Reviews Disappoint or Excite you?

The reviews have me happy in some ways and a little disappointed in others. However I just don't know how they could have made EVERYONE happy. It's just not possible. The new M3/4 is a great car but you pretty regularly hear in reviews that the steering isn't communicative enough and the...
