  1. 1987 Buick Grand National vs 2018 gt

I would pass... unless you can get a stock truck with a proven pedigree and keep it that way. Like GN's, Syclones were almost always modified to some extent and tampering with the odometer was/is extremely common. It was very easy to detonate the engine due to poorly designed heads and...
  2. 1987 Buick Grand National vs 2018 gt

I owned 5 Syclones over 25 years, from mild to heavily modified. The Syclone did not have anything in common with the GN/GNX.. it was based on the 4.3 truck engine that was basically a stock LB4 with hyprutectic pistons and nodular iron main caps, 700r4 transmission with a modified valve body...
  3. Senior S550 Owners Like Black Wheels?

In my 50's, and prefer the silver wheels especially with the RR color and 50th anniversary chrome bits. I've seen cars with black wheels that look good though... just depends on color and other accents.
  4. Cervini's just mic dropped a new GT500 hood for the 15-17 S550 here @LethalPerformance!

Any shots of the underside of the hood? I assume the unfinished color of the fiberglass is black?
  5. Question for guys who actually have the the Roush Kit

LiveLink PC software if I'm datalogging - hard to beat. Driving around I use my IPhone running the OBD Fusion app with OBDLink MX + Professional OBD2 Scanner. For a small one-time fee you get a boatload of PID's you can select from in the app, and can build custom dashboards and gauges for...
  6. Just curious has anyone else got caught crossing over the Mexican border LoL

78 in a 30 ..... in an 83 Escort. Was all but maxed out, no way that thing would run 100 (or 90 for that matter) unless you dropped it off a building. I pulled over after seeing him and waited for him to catch up and pull in behind me. Probably the only reason I got a warning.
  7. Turbo Experts: Will I have issues with wastegates mounted less than 90 degrees?

I've ran perpendicular off the cross-over pipe before and didn't have an issue even though I knew it wasn't an ideal placement, but never at an opposing angle. I agree with jay-rod's comments... would be worth asking the manufacturer or anyone else running the same setup.
  8. Question for guys who actually have the the Roush Kit

I also have a VMP tune for my 15 and am happy with it. Had some issues with the first tune they sent, second revision was very good... a few more tweaks for rev 3 and the car runs great. It really woke the car up from the Roush tune and driveability is excellent. As JasinEdward said, they...
  9. Question for guys who actually have the the Roush Kit

My former life for the past 20+ years was GM turbo vehicles... at one point running a water to air system and this is what I did in the pits... pour ice in the IC reservoir (or put a bag of ice on top of the reservoir if you don't want to suck out water to add more water) and manually switch on...
  10. A/C Evaporator Factory Defect

It won't take freon without the system running... the low pressure switch needs to be bypassed. Just wondered if anyone here knows where it is and if bypassing is as simple as unplugging the electrical connector.
  11. A/C Evaporator Factory Defect

Well I just found this thread after searching for what may have led my 2015 to have the AC stop working.... guess I have a pretty good idea now. Before taking it to the dealer I was going to veryify it is truly low on freon and try the STP sealer trick but it's now gotten low enough the...
  12. 17 Mustang GT Roush Phase 2 Power Updates

Were you running a VMP 93 tune when you made the 636 Rwhp pull?
  13. VMPP heat exchanger with Roush SC

I'm still running the stock Roush HE and about all I've done is open up the front upper/lower grill, add water wetter and put in a 170 deg thermostat. My temps are in the same range as yours on an 85 degree day? Considering the larger heat exchanger, higher flowing pump, etc I was expecting a...
  14. Planning my setup and would like advice

Older thread but wanted to comment that there is some great advice on this forum... Bluemustang really helped me nail it on the first try saving me a lot of time and money. I did: BMR SP083's Ford racing track dampers BMR vertical links BMR cradle lockout Steeda rear shock mounts MRR 19"...
  15. More Bad News

I used Cometics for years in other applications and have mixed feelings about MLS gaskets. I would be reluctant to put them on without verifying the factory finish on the heads and block are sufficient for the Cometics... they require a near perfect head/deck finish or they will leak. Once...
  16. Ngauge...where's Injector Duty cycle PID

VMP confirmed at least with my setup that PW and DC are not available. Drives me nuts, I have no idea how close to saturation I am other than to watch other lagging indicators. Kills me how many PID’s you have access to but one of the most fundamental items I have ever used isn’t here.
  17. VMP upgraded intercooler pump

Thanks for the write up WhiteyDog. I am in process of moving to the South East so I'm unfortuantely going to need to face the reality of ditching the Roush HE and going with a bigger unit. May do the pump at the same time so I won't have to wonder "what if"....
  18. powertrian is up what do i need to to get rid of the roush tune

If you go with VMP, either the SCT or N-gauge will be offered. I have a 93 VMP tune with the SCT handheld and it does everything I need. You won't need to go to the dealer to have anything unlocked with either controller. VMP wil send you a stock tune along with the custom tune via email. You...
  19. Roush stage one mixed feelings

I did the same thing as hossman on my 15 Roush Phase 2, ditched the Roush tune after about a year and went with the VMP 93 octane tune. Doing nothing different other than the tune it made a very noticable difference in power. The Roush tune is a conservative 91 octane tune. I had VMP make a...
  20. Power Limit on 47lb Injectors

It irritates me to death with this setup you can't see pulse width or injector duty cycle. About all you can do is watch other PID's... knock, short term fuel trim, AFR, etc. to know if you are in or nearing saturation. FWIW, I'm still using the 47lb injectors with the phase 2 setup and VMP 93...
