spot-on
why have textured plastic splitter, textured plastic side skirts, and a rear bumper that doesnt match? and i'm mad that i cant put a roush rear diffuser on my car.
The BIG selling points of the EcoBoost were to have a somewhat refined RWD car, over 300hp, available with performance package and Recaro seats, that is capable of 30+mpg. All things that are really important to ME. I use my EcoBoost as my commuter car (replaced my 1995 Ford Aspire). It is super...
I never tried a V6, but the only killer for me was no optional performance package and no optional Recaro seats. If you could get a V6 PP w/ Recaro seats, I might've had a hard time picking.
UPR is my first thought. I wouldn't think these would be sold in volumes high enough to justify the cost of plastic, but maybe billet aluminum would work?
You really need to get someone lined up to manufacture these, like soon. Too many of us want this to happen for you to have some rapid prototype parts in your car that we'll never be able to have!
I haven't. I just got it about 2-1/2 weeks ago, and there hasn't been a local event since then. I've heard that the EcoBoost has the same oil temp and intake air temp issues that my V6 has though :(
I still have the mail order tune for it, and it is insanely rich (like...less than 10:1 AFR at WOT), but it puts out 172rwhp/254rwtq. Enough to have fun with, but definitely room for improvement. I'd benefit A LOT from a true dyno tune, but I think I might go a different route with the car...
YouTube search "USAIR Lapping", there are a bunch of videos of other people on that track. It definitely tests how nimble the car is, but I wouldn't say it's too narrow or technical. Here is a photo of me on that track with my '98 V6.
Our car club hosts HPDE events at a local kart track. It's fun, but definitely not "big boy" HPDE. Max speed on the track is around 65-70mph (depending on car of course), and typical lap times in the 1:15-1:20 range, still fun though!
this is really preliminary, but this is what i'd like to do. have a mount that bolts to the bottom of the front crash bar with a plate that comes down into the lower grille opening. have a couple nuts welded to that plate that goes into the lower grille opening. use some long 1/2" diameter...
has anyone tried 235/45/19 tires on the 19x9 wheels? i really think that 255s are wider than i'd really want for snow. unfortunately, there arent too many snow tire choices for 235/45/19.
i did see that someone is running 245/40/19 Blizzaks, but they're a little smaller in diameter than i'd...
Yes! Push for this really hard! Maybe UPR would be interested in making billet toggles???
I made a really sweet triple gauge pod for my '98 Mustang on a rapid prototyping machine, it's great, the design is awesome (I'm a bit biased, hah!), but it was way too expensive to mass produce.
I hate to rain on everyone's parade, and I hope I'm wrong, but I don't see this happening. I work in engineering myself and use 3D modeling on a daily basis. Creating models like this is simple. There have been no provisions to make these work (somehow turn a push button into a toggle) and no...
