I use chemical guys. brand new washed for a little drying in spots, or spray detailer. I then steam wash them, and generally move them into the engine detailing pile. If the new one was barely used I'll wash and add it back to the "new" pile. After that they get a 3rd life for wheel cleaning...

Not that I saw. I'd imagine it's just pinched in there and the screw driver just releases the tension. No idea though as I havnt looked at it. I woulda guessed looking at the replacement would make it obvious, but I guess it's not. Sorry I can't be of more help.
