  1. LT5 in a ZLE - GT500 killer

So you would daily the zl1 but not the 1le Maybe its the tea leaves, maybe its the fact that cars that have a track versions are usually slower at the 1/4 mile times than the non track versions. That is probably programmed into the car as the shocks are electronic, its the non programmable...
  2. LT5 in a ZLE - GT500 killer

This is my problem, just where do you get the notion that its right up there with the gt350r if the only real instrumented test there is for the gt500 is 1/4 mile runs, some guys butt dyno? you are making that up. The zl1 1le its a terrible car for street driving it will hurt your kidneys...
  3. LT5 in a ZLE - GT500 killer

It can be stellar, like the z28 and the zl1 1le, but you need to go to the extemes for that and you end up with a car not that good for the street. Just because it has magnetic dampers does not mean you will not need stiffer springs and bars, huge sticky tires with very stiff sidewalls and...
  4. LT5 in a ZLE - GT500 killer

Yes, apart from the subjective opinion of people who got invited by ford and want to be invited again, the only real data we have is 1/4 mile times, other than that we have nothing that we can compare to the already known competition of the gt500
  5. LT5 in a ZLE - GT500 killer

The GT350R was faster than the z28 around laguna seca, but it was much slower in VIR, i think for the same reason the performance package 2 mustang was faster than the camaro ss 1le on VIR but not at Laguna Seca, a set of tires that can handle the heat from a longer lap better. With a 4200lb...
  6. LT5 in a ZLE - GT500 killer

This new gt500 specs seem far too similar to the hellcat redeye that is supposed to be the most track worthy hellcat, i believe the track pack will be able to beat the normal zl1 in all scenarios, thats good enough for probably 80% of the cases, but unless they go balls to the walls track...
  7. My opinions after spending time with rental Camaro SS and Corvette Stingray Convertible.

With a couple of friends we tested both cars, first on the dyno and then at the track, both bone stock except for drag radials, the camaro put down 405whp and the mustang 395whp, at the track the camaro went 12.1 to the mustang 12.2 i cant remember the MPH but the difference was much less than...
  8. LT5 in a ZLE - GT500 killer

i think this generation gt500 beats the zl1 the same way the past generation gt500 beat the zl1, and that it will compare the same as it did against the past c7 z51. On the past gen the camaro was a heavier car but the chassis was better suited for track duty, while the gt500 was a lighter car...

if you think encryption tech is what will kill the aftermarket i think you are wrong, what that might do is make the stand alone sector grow larger in order to take over what you can no longer do with the stock stuff if it really gets to be unbreakable. i believe what can really kill the...
  10. Precision-Turbonetics NX2 turbo EcoBoost build thread

Low load knock is no problem, high load high boost knock is what will kill your engine, now 3 knock events is nothing and i wouldn't worry about it, if it is pulling 3 degrees of timing constantly then your tuner should fix it in the next revision
  11. Let's talk about methanol

I have used that same kit, it woks but i see no advantage over the non progressive ones, keep in mind i use them only on cars that im pushing hard and the stock fuel system cant keep up with the fuel demand. On the 50/50 mix i have found that cyl 1 and 2 make corrections, usually they take...

I tune them so i pretty much spend my time between modded cars, and yes you can bend rods with a stock turbo or push a head gasket, but i wouldn't consider that ecoboom, ill bet you a sixpack of beer you havent experienced ecoboom or a "pushing the engine too hard" type of failure in your EBM.

dont tune your car, if you do you might ecoboom
  15. Who takes their Eco to the Track?

i have seen the oilt temp go up in both the ecccoboost and the GT, a extra oil cooler will help, other than that i melted the reflector lights that go over the exhaust tip.

whatever color you go, dont choose red or you will ecoboom.
  17. Precision-Turbonetics NX2 turbo EcoBoost build thread

You would have to ask your tuner, he will see your datalogs and tell you if your local fuel will support more power and how close you are to not being able to get more power out of it.

This ecoboom thing it comes up every other thread, what is it, when does it happens, what does it damages, what causes it? if i pushed my engine past it physical limit would it be called ecoboom? what about usig a 93octane tune wit 89 octane fuel, would that be called ecoboom? I have never seen...
  19. Precision-Turbonetics NX2 turbo EcoBoost build thread

Yes, the numbers i have posted and i believe the numbers e2blade has posted are both attainable in 90+ degrees weather, winter for me is 77F. Bigger than stock turbo will spool later, thats just how they work, you can fix that with a torque converter, that being said o a stock converter you...
