Not to hijack this thread, but what modifications would people do to a base GT for road course use? I believe I have covered most of my bases, but I would be interested to hear other people's opinions as to what I may not have done that might be important.
Recently, I have changed my...
Do you find any real advantage turning the stability control off? I just turn the traction control off because it was slowing me down in the turns at the track, but stability control only ever kicks in when I have made a mistake.
I think these will be my next tire, but in the 275/40r18 variety. I'm still considering dropping down to a 275/35r18 but I can't decide if I want to affect my current gear ratio.
275/35r18?
Is anyone running 275/35r18 tires? I was thinking about picking up a set of NT05s after my 555s (275/40r18) wear out. I have the Ford Racing Track Handling Pack and I don't think the smaller tire would look weird. The big question is whether or not it will force me to shift into...

This is my car on 275/40r18. I am considering dropping down to 275/35r18 since 275 is the optimal width for my 18x9.5 wheels. I wouldn't mind the extra stiffness, less weight, and lower stance. From my quick math, that would drop my top speed to about 143 mph...
What width wheel are you running your 285/35r18 tires on? I was thinking about picking up a set of NT05s for my 18x9.5 wheels, but my 555s in 275/40 have been wearing pretty well at the track. I like the idea of going just a touch smaller to use 4th gear a little more at the track I go to...
I have a base GT with a square 275 tire setup. I just installed the Ford Racing Track Handling Pack and Strut Tower Brace. It is a totally different car now, but still nice and balanced handling wise with the square setup.
Thanks for the reply! I try too keep my track setup low maintenance enough that I can still drive it around town. That brake pad might work pretty well.
I love my 18s. Reasonably priced tires at 275/40r18 and I run my stock wheels with snow tires in the winter. I have a 3.55 rear axle which seems to pair nicely with the wheel size.

After driving with it for a few days it feels so much better than the stock knob. The shape just gives you more leverage and hand contact to confidently make shifts. I am very impressed by the quality and design and it works with the stock reverse lockout perfectly.

So no one has successfully modded a stock seat to sit an inch or so lower yet? I was hoping it could be done without cutting out foam but maybe some aftermarket seats are in my future.

It fits with the reverse lockout perfectly. It is a little taller than the stock knob but the shape feels a lot better to me. It felt really nice driving around today.

I used blue loctite on the aluminum adapter when connecting it to the shift rod so I could tighten the shift knob down good to it. It's unnecessary because of the way it is designed but the last thing I want is it coming loose at a track day haha.

If you can't find what you want, just shoot them an email. I got the first one with GT on it and he can do just about anything.
