This is a 2-part video that starts with cold weather driving in these beasts. I cover Ford's minimum recommended temperature and clear up the misperceptions. Next up is Michelin's min temp for tire cracking. I finish the first section with all-season and winter tire options for these cars...
I cover the 2 popular rock chip prevention mods aft of the front tires on the 2020-2022 Shelby GT500. The JLT Rock Blockers & Jaeger Brothers Splash Guards are popular additions to the Ford Mustang. Each has its pros as well as cons and both have deficiencies that need to be addressed to...
The 2020+ GT500s have metal grilles with a thin black coating that is prone to chips from rocks, rubber bits and harder insects. I show my solution in this short video!
Fantastic! Sounds like you guys had a great day as well. If you are interested in doing an actual track day, I’ll be coaching at MSR-Cresson with Edge Addicts this Monday Nov 7th. All you need is the car. They even have helmets. Send me a pm if you want more info.
Late Model Restoration’s 2022 Mustang/Ford powered Cruise In and track fun was absolutely EPIC! The event turned out to be much larger than expected! I took 7 of my Mustangs there (a 1st)! My lineup was: 1993 Teal Metallic Cobra (12k miles), 1994 Indy 500 Cobra Pace Car (140 miles), 1996 Mystic...
Thank you sir!
I can assure you I am not on a “Sunday drive” when at the track. I strive to drive at the limits, but as you know, it’s always a work in progress… always striving for the perfect lap.
I use my phone. I checked it against a transponder at Hallett and it was within .1 second against their official track timer that I strapped to my car. Yes, there are external GPS units that are supposed to be more accurate, but my setup works just fine for what I do.
The base model is an excellent track machine. The CFTP dials it up to 11! The car, as delivered, is essentially heat proof on a road course. You won’t have power loss due to heat soak nor will you experience brake fade. I did have tranny overheat issues as well as engine oil too hot. As Mike...
Thank you sir! 🍻
I am a new BIG fan of the 3Rs! They have excellent grip and good longevity. I do wish they came in a 315. I contacted Goodyear… it would be excellent if they made 315s. I’d run them on all 4 corners.
Thanks for the info.
My car is mostly for track fun, but other than an aggressive track alignment, I really haven’t done anything else to it moving it away from a street car. The GT500 does quite well at the track, even at full weight.
If you haven’t driven COTA before and would like someone...
Thank you sir! I don’t recall Honey Badger’s specifics, but I believe he runs a stripped down GT350…? Removing weight seriously helps in the turns. I’m running at full weight… still rocking the subwoofer in the trunk! The 500 has awesome power, but you still have to wrestle 4100+ pounds...
This video starts with a fun chase car view intro and then goes right to my fastest lap of the weekend. I matched my best lap time ever at COTA of a 2:23. Next up is Charles from Function Factory Performance piloting my car around the track. He could not catch a break with traffic and flags...
In this video, I get some of my Mustang Cobras started that haven't run in 2-3 years. They get cleaned up, loaded up and taken to Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth TX for Late Model Restoration's Mustang/Ford Powered Cruise In! The show ended up with thousands of cars... it was massive! In...
