Ford gives their techs 1 hour labor to do the replacement. The car has to sit for 1 hour after replacement so the threadlock on the shifter ball sets up.

Ford gives their techs 1 hour labor to do this job. There is another hour to let the treadlock setup on the shift knob.

I just told you they are physical the same I had them side by side.

We will never find out. I had both the old and new shifter side by side and there were no differences in looking at them.

The picture in my post is the replacement shifter used in this FSA. The reverse lockout mechanism is plastic. I don't think we will ever find out what is different with this shifter. If you are uncomfortable with the plastic reverse lockout you need to go aftermarket.

It is the same shifter that has been used since 2015. There was a quality problem in a batch of them and it has been rectified. If you have a problem with the plastic reverse lookout spend the $500 on an aftermarket.

My understanding is Ford Performance does not let that kind of work to be done on the GT350 engine by dealers.

I don't know why you think the stock shifter is plastic. I just changed my stock shifter and there is no plastic parts on it.

It all boils down to how you are going to use your car. For me the stock shifter works great for my street driving. I have no issues with it.

Yes it is the block plate that fits between the engine block and bellhousing. I would not mess around trying to modify yours I would just buy the newer version. FR3Z-7007-B
