^^ It depends where in the rpm band you want to make power. The TVS-style blowers hit much harder, earlier, whilst the Whipple will make a bit more at the top-end, but hit softer in mid-range....
I would also be interested in seeing the adiabatic efficiency curves, I would bet the TVS would be...
Cheers. Yes, I noticed some of your troubles :(
Hence me planning a spare engine build to go with my VMP Gen3R, but I will drop CR to ~9.0 - 9.5:1 to make it reliable at 1,000whp. Can be done with careful planning, but she will be sleeved for sure.
I might check on part-numbers and...
Just to double-check with you experts: Are the latest Gen3 blocks (like gimmie11s’ above) compatible with my Gen2 heads etc. I am planning a spare sleeved short-block build and want to go for the best possible base...excluding the MMR billet block of course...
Gimmie, nice block btw ;) Would...
Yeah, it’s a pretty big supercharger, but with the 2650TVS rotors, it is going to punch hellishly hard too. The machanical design of this one is very well done, it should flow very well.
I got the Gen3R for my 2016 car this BF sale, just the head-unit and the 69mm twin TB -> seeing as my car is...
Sometimes I have this same crappy behaviour on my 16 670hp Roush setup. I have learned to drive around it, so it isn’t a problem for me, but still an annoyance....
I am willing to bet both my kidneys the Roush-tune needs fine-tuning.....
Cheers,
Beano
I would say with turbos having a higher adiabatic efficiency, plus the fact that it is not mechanically driven, will actually allow for a decent increase in power at the same manifold pressure and fuel, vs a mechanical driven supercharger.
Simply from a theoretical perspective, not advising one...
@engineermike: Exactly my thoughts until it was pointed I am old-school, haha.
Seems a few doesn’t really understand the ratios between static CR and total CR, max boost vs fuel limitations, and a few other factors, at least if you are hoping to have a reliable boosted setup.
Anyway, as per...
@schmeky: Is it only me, or is it looking for trouble wanting to run that high CR with any supercharged application. Yes, I know many have done it, but I will question the longer term reliability of that configuration, being supercharged.
Surely running around the 9-9.5:1 will allow a...
Cheers Burkey, I will get the mechanics sorted, no dramas.
I can for sure see the benefits the phenolic spacers will bring, combined with my hood-extractors and the heat-shield under the intake, heat-soak will be greatly reduced. Combining that with the lower heat the big VMP will introduce to...
Well, I just did the silly thing today and ordered the VMP Gen 3 R and twin69mm TB from Lethal Performance (thanx for all your help, Logan!)
My plan is to eventually have a nice reliable 1000whp build, I will still optimise the Roush setup to a good level on the stock motor, but at the same...
Ha, found the Tilton pump rated for continuous use, slightly more expensive than the one used in this kit, but I guess I will go for it instead. Now to start researching the heat-exchanger, I will take measurements of the available space when I return home in 2 weeks....
