VIN and build date for 2015 V-6 with automatic transmission issued yesterday. My build week is posted as 10/26/2104. I placed my order on June 12th at Long Lewis Ford in Hoover, Alabama. I am a very happy Mustang lover.

In answer to the initial question, yes, I ordered the base 2015 Mustang V-6 model. I added automatic transmission and foundry wheels package. I wanted a fun, sporty, American Muscle-car as my daily driver. I am going to wait and see about reupholstering with red leather.

Don't know if this helps, but my dealer only asked for a $300 non-refundable deposit. He acknowledged that the dealer allotment cars would come in first followed by custom orders. He further explained that any first run bugs would have a better chance of being corrected in the custom order cars...

My number is T949 so I guess I will be in the next "pull". Maybe that is a good thing?

2015 vs. 2016 I was thinking the same thing, but I did not want to loose a whole year of driving the S550. I am ordering a 2015 and if it is flawed, I will trade it in for the 2016 I want.
