That "thunk" sound is most likely backlash in the rear gears. It's normal for IRS cars going all the way back to the 99-04 Cobras. Part of having the differential mounted to the subframe of the car. You'll learn to drive around it for the most part.

Its true once you pull that fuse or disconnect the modem behind the tail light you will lose the ford connect app stuff, but i still get phone calls and texts no issue. I never needed an app to have/enjoy a car before, so it was no loss to me. Would do it again in a second.
