  1. MotorTrend Review (EcoBoost)

Actually I thought that whole comparison point was a straw man: So what you're telling us here is that an AWD car launches better than a roughly equivalent RWD car? Well DUH?! Is there someone out there that really didn't know 4 > 2?!
  2. Top Gear Review (GT & EcoBoost)

I found this bit interesting: So ostensibly the UK gets PP as standard spec?
  3. Summarizing Key points from reviews

. . . and well said. The minutia we're arguing about likely only matters to us "1%ers"! :ford:
  4. Summarizing Key points from reviews

Yeah, you're right now I recall the last year of the Fox Body was '93 though given that the 4.6 was in the Mark VIII starting in '93 I'm curious what the OBDII compliance issues were? Either way, this was just a theory I had bangin' around in my head but as you all point out, it wouldn't really...
  5. MotorTrend Review (EcoBoost)

+1! This is exactly where I am. I had originally been looking at the Focus ST but then I discovered that the price difference between a "base" eb / M6 / PP / Recaro Mustang and Fully loaded F-ST that I was sizing up is < $1k. Given this is going to be my dd and possibly see some...
  6. Summarizing Key points from reviews

Yes I know in '05 they did line up the redesign of the S197 and the release of the 3v 4.6, my point was simply that TWO times in the past they've done this new body / new engine 1-2 punch so it's hardly unprecedented. Given the buzz around the purported 2016 GT350 engine and that reviews seem a...
  7. Summarizing Key points from reviews

So here's something I've been a bit curious about, a couple of times in the past Ford introduced a new body style for the Mustang and then following year they introduced a new or upgraded power train. They did this w/ the intro of the '94 SN95 body that still had the gen 1 5.0 engine and then...
  8. Summarizing Key points from reviews

I'd agree w/ this completely! I was saying in another thread I kinda feel like Ford in it's urge to play up the 50th Anniversary celebration of this car and giving us 10+ months of build up kind of over-played it's hand. Then when we didn't get a gold plated jet fighter that shoots sonic booms...
  9. MotorTrend Review (EcoBoost)

Yeah, but small displacement turbos have traditionally not matched up particularly well w/ automatic transmissions and especially w/ more aggressive rear end gearing. Like someone else said, it strikes me this particular combination is set up to appeal to the masses of folks who want something...
  10. MotorTrend Review (EcoBoost)

Eh, keep in mind some of that might be caused by a choked off factory exhaust that had to compromise in order to keep sound intrusion under control. Rumor is this same 2.3l engine is slated for 325 - 350 in the likely upcoming Focus RS. Given that top line tuners like Cobb and Lethal...
  11. MotorTrend Review (EcoBoost)

Keep in mind that's an eb premium w/ auto. This is the car that Ford wants to replace the previous v6 place in the market as it's mass market appeal car. For the folks that this car will appeal to, people like my wife who currently drives a v6 Honda Accord Coupe w/ leather and sunroof because...
  12. Consumer Reports Review (EcoBoost)

Eh, Consumer Reports is hardly an enthusiast haven like C&D or R&T, their appeal is to a larger market that may be interested in a "sporty car" but not necessarily the hardcore enthusiast who already know all of that stuff. It's probably why they're the only ones w/ a review of an ecoboost car...
  13. News embargo to be lifted on 9/15, get ready! *UPDATE: 9/17*

Noon EST. Dude, don't you know the entire world is oriented to east coast time?! I suppose we could say it's gonna drop @ 16:00 GMT! ;)
  14. Ford Racing Parts catalog for 2015 Mustang [Updated with Pricing]

. . . yeah, that's what I'm afraid of actually. The different F-STs I've heard from Cobb, Lethal Performance and other tuners haven't been horrible but not particularly inspiring either and they were all still a little "buzzy" imo. I'm hoping the slightly larger displacement and the split dual...
  15. Ford Racing Parts catalog for 2015 Mustang [Updated with Pricing]

Those are both GTs? They sound good but I'm still wondering what they'll be able to do for the ecoboost exhaust? Will it inevitably end up sounding like from "fart-can" ricer?
  16. Ford Racing Parts catalog for 2015 Mustang [Updated with Pricing]

IMHO wheel hop was never the "fault" of the half-shafts but rather all the soft rubber and subsequent bad harmonics of the gerry-rigged 99 - 04 IRS. I replace most of the bushing in my '01 Cobra w/ Maximum Motorsports bushings and also replaced the craptastic toe-link bars w/ the much stonger...
  17. Ford Racing Parts catalog for 2015 Mustang [Updated with Pricing]

Interesting didn't know that but I guess it's the same thing as Motive making FRPP gears. If I end w/ an ecoboost car this will definitely be something I look into, I just hope these isn't some ridiculous mark-up b/c it's an FRPP part.
  18. Ford Racing Parts catalog for 2015 Mustang [Updated with Pricing]

Borlas?! Wow, there may be hope for getting a decent tone out of the ecoboost cars after all! I have Borla Stingers on my '01 Cobra and love them! :headbang:
  19. The first song you'll play?

Yeah, this is why I'm hoping the "base" radio in these cars comes "satellite ready" 'cause that's something I'd pay for before even leaving the dealership! I don't need a lot of frills but listening to the inane local commercial radio gives me a friggin headache!!! :frusty:
  20. UPDATED MUSTANG DELIVERY TIMING ESTIMATE

I'm good w/ that! Seriously though, when this whole idea that the cars would be on lots today first came up I was thinking, "So do people believe these things are gonna be delivered in the middle of the night under cover of darkness Santa Clause style so we can all be surprised like...
