Also, the v6 in the GT was for a specific class of racing. While I can't say they won't do a ttV6 , IT IS MY SINCEREST HOPE THAT THEY DON'T CALL IT A GT500.
Funny thing is, I am a member at corvette forum. When they announced that the Z06 was using a 1.7L roots, I said it was too small and would create too much heat. I was told that GM knew much more than me. Maybe they do, but I was right on this one.
It makes sense to me, given their use of twin turbo's on EVERYTHING. The first eco-boost(beast) v-8. That would make an awesome Gt500. A TT FPC, that would be ridiculously awesome. Ford does have this thing about liking to beat Ferrari ;)
Same driver, same day is the only real way I know of coming closest to a direct comparison. That being said, I think the ATS-V is a damn nice car. Not necessarily what I am in the market for, but if I wanted a performance/lux car, it would be near/at the top of the list ( LOVE the sound of the...
If they are going to go PTWA I hope they put some heavy duty rods/pistons in from the get go. Othyerwise, if the block has any moderate usage, you are looking at sleeving it if you change the pistons/rings. (or at least if you are as paranoid as I am)
I am sure hoping for a twin turbo, auto GT500. I already have a beast with the kenne bell and a built motor, but twins and an auto are the way to go, IMO, for a street/strip car.
With regards to the ATS-V, I am by no means a GM apologist, but other than minor quibbles, he was fairly pleased with the ATS-V, and it beat the C63S time wise. Is there another Randy Pobst driving review that I missed?
Anyways, back to more GT500 rumor and speculation please.
Ford seems to be playing heavily (and rightfully so) and the 50 year heritage of the Mustang. Traditionally the 350 was the better handling road course car and the GT500 was the boulevard bruiser/drag strip killer. Hopefully they keep that spirit alive.
I don't know, the sound of a 458 at speed or under hard acceleration is pretty damn awesome! Plus, my current GT500 is teeth rattlingly loud. Headers/Off road H pipe/cam'd/borla sport = loud.
