I live on Long Island so we are in the same boat! I've noticed most if not all dealers will attempt to BS you into ordering even when they don't have an allocation. There really isn't a way to find out until you realize your order hasn't moved for two months.
I'm one of the few who doesn't want the car ASAP and I'd rather take delivery after the winter (I aimed for April 1st). I'm guessing I won't see it until after May.
I picked probably one of the biggest dealers around me thinking I wouldn't run into allocation issues. They have a lot of 18's on...
I was curious about if I actually ordered through a dealer who had an allocation. I see some people ordered well after me and have already received updates. My order doesn't show in COTUS and both the dealer and Ford support say that Ford received the order but that's it. No VIN or anything...
Seems like it's mostly dependent on if you find someone through connections and if you find a dealer with an available allocation. If you don't, it looks like 3+ months is the wait time.
I hoped to trade in my SHO for the Mustang and want to avoid the NY snow so April is a safe month for me anyways. Hopefully it isn't closer to March! I'd hate to have the car sit in the lot with snow. I guess I'm one of the few who would rather take the car later than earlier.
Ordered a 2018 GT Premium on 12/17. No VIN/build date or anything yet. COTUS doesn't work as I figured :(
I'm assuming i'll be looking at a date sometime after April.
