The failure mode exhibited by witness marks in the cylinders indicate a stress parallel with the crank, not normal to. This is contradictory to your theory. At least from what I have seen in person.
My money is on out of spec PTW & crank thrust. Ford won't ever roll out a fix for this...
Automakers have to earn trust at that level of cost. KIA has yet to do so, and declaring the Stinger a success when it doesn't even provide the same performance as the competition at the same price is a bit of a stretch, especially considering its reputation. I fail to see how that's...
Is suspension the only thing you consider for comfort? Because I don't consider the two to be exact synonyms. When I state "comfort", I consider things like seating position, storing items, accessibility, etc. If you feel like a low coupe isn't less practical than a hatchback, then those...
It's hard to say without clear goals or priorities. Stock RS's tend to be 13 sec cars. Does that bother you? You're losing a solid second on ET for an apples to apples comparison between platforms. On the track, the RS can do well in tight groupings but anything with higher speed turns the...
Steeda seems to do well trading off with vettes and vipers for checkers in gt4. Do you pay attention to these classes at all or are you being a fanboy? There's a difference between informed enthusiast who wants the best for the sport and someone who just supports a brand.

Battery tech isn't there. The Teslas still handle like short busses due to weight.
There's a trade off with density of stored energy right now. It seems that the more you can store per volume or kg, the more volatile the substance is or the more toxic. With less advanced materials science...
Me too. Probably going to get the car fixed then sell it, then build an s550 project from a junked car. I don't see the advantage in buying new when it doesn't guarantee reliability or manufacturer integrity.
Put me down on the list of known failures.
Back to the topic, I doubt they fixed it. They're more interested in testing out their ability to avoid fixing it for as long as possible than addressing or investigating issues.
Excessive crankshaft clearance would cause the tick with the rods, and potentially cause cylinder damage parallel to the crank. This is exactly the failure mode we're seeing. I'd be curious to see how many cars have excessive thrust bearing clearance.
It's almost like they're not using assembly lube or using the improper spec. It's not normal. You shouldn't see streaking in parallel with crank when that's not even how the loads in the motor are transferred, so power level is not the main factor. I'm beginning to think there's some sort of...
