I was thinking about this when I first got my car. Problem is: if you get high-quality good looking tips, youāre halfway to the cost of full exhaust. Around that same time my rear was damaged and I had the bumper replaced with the MP Concepts GT500 Style rear bumper that has tips built in. Later...
Yeah, just drive it and youāll have it sorted without thinking about it much. These cars are pretty easy as manuals. (A) they have enough balls to not stall easily and (B) thereās hill assist and whatever-its-called where it gives a little tip-in throttle when you release the clutch.
The spring...
Cool! I didn't know that. Really I just wanted the seats but the trim is a nice extra. I did have it off one time and took a pic of the label in case I ever broke it.
There was also a āCarbon Sport Interior Packageā option that had the glossy CF dash trim and shift knob. My car has it and I like it, but it isnāt real CF.
I mean, you know itās a specific camshaft. I would at least replace the VVT solenoid (and/or maybe cam sensor) before dropping $25K or giving up.
Also, donāt assume a dealer tech is an āexpertā.
I have the Ford Performance Touring cat-back exhaust. The sound is deep and resonant, but I doubt it's any louder than stock. For me, this is fine and what I wanted. It comes with a resonator that I suppose could be replaced with a H/X pipe for more volume.
I have the DWS06 Plus' and love them, but I can only compare with the original equipment Pirellis which were awful. My car is stock and it's my commuter car, so there's that.
ā18 GT w/ manual and around 55K miles. My commute is 14 miles one way. Itās all on surface streets with 45 MPH speed limits. If Iām mindful of it, I can get 19 mpg. If Iām not, I get 17ish.
Itās a great commuter car for me. Iām rarely in stop-n-go type traffic though.
It only took about a shot glass worth of Ceratec to hush the tick for me. I donāt use it anymore though. Our oil isnāt just lubricating parts. Itās also the hydraulic fluid driving our cam timing.
Not implying that Ceratec is a problem for that system. Iām just saying that getting rid of the...
Iām thinking itād be pretty easy to mess up the gasket on that side. Thereās about eleventy-billion parts that need to come off before you can get the valve cover off, so itād be tempting to a tech to try shortcuts. Itās a headache.
In any case, Iām dubious of the...
Was able to get part from local dealer, Got it in. Everything looked gorgeous under the valve cover, chains tight and clean. Everything looked perfect. Startup was super lumpy though. I expected it because I had cleaned the crusty ring around the throttle body butterfly. But even so, it ran...
