  1. EB PP wheels, recoating question

Wow, that's awesome. Might have to do this... Hahaha, that dude's guns reminded me I have to hit the damn gym more often ;)
  2. Ecoboost vs Focus St: Pure Fun Factor

Yeah, everything points to that car being an absolute MONSTER: http://www.roadandtrack.com/go/future-cars/2016-ford-focus-rs-first-details-exclusive-insider-info Easily would be an STI killer with those specs. That's what happens when you sit on the same damn powertrain for a decade Subaru.... :(
  3. Is it too early to wish for the 3.5EB?

That I could totally see happening, and I bet that timetable's about right too. But no 3.5 will be offered while there's a V8 in the standard GT.
  4. StangTV Review More like it! (GT)

Best review so far, thanks for posting!
  5. To float or not to float...

Like you say, the brakes and the Torsen diff alone are worth the package, even if you rip out the upgraded springs & struts anyway. Unless you don't like a great Torsen diff. Which would be understandable: I mean, Hitler probably didn't. :D
  6. EB PP wheels, recoating question

I've had wheels painted but never powdercoated or plastidipped. I don't know anything about the plastidip -- does it add any significant weight to the wheel? More than an once or two?
  7. GT Clutch Effort?

NY Daily News review (at least I think it was that one) said that it's slightly heavier than the '14s. They said the '14 was a little light for their taste and the new one hits the sweet spot. An incredibly subjective take, of course, but it is what it is.
  8. Exhaust videos?

Great perspective in that vid; looks like a good amount of acceleration is on tap in the EB from that angle. Not 5.0 levels of course, but pretty darn good. Like, V8 from just 5 years ago good. And it really doesn't sound bad. It doesn't sound spectacular, but it doesn't sound bad either. I...
  9. Ecoboost loses 13% power on 87 octane [Updated with Ford training materials]

For the record, I am NOT advocating putting lower octane fuel in any turbo car. Put in the best you can; not doing so is absolutely a false economy. That said, I'm just not going to believe this 40hp drop stuff until I see dynos showing that much of a hit. I still have my old dyno print outs...
  10. 2015 Mustang GT Versus 2015 BMW M4 Comparison

Not at the wheels. Those turbo'd 3L Bimmers are notoriously underrated. Gotta love engines rated at 300hp that put down 330 to the wheels. They're closer to the GT than you think in power, and their tq curve is broader.
  11. Ecoboost vs Focus St: Pure Fun Factor

Bummer to hear you don't compare the Mustang GT favorably to the STs. However.... I just got to drive a '15 WRX yesterday. If you think the Fiesta ST is that much fun, head on down to your local Suby dealer. Make sure to wear a black turtleneck and fake mustache so your work colleagues don't...
  12. Four reasons Ford should race the Mustang at Le Mans

Honestly, a really-bad-case scenario is that given its non-mid-engined platform, the Mustang wouldn't really compete well and get embarrassed with a bottom-half finish. Better to avoid that. The Mustang lover in me loves this idea, the marketer in me really worries.
  13. Is it too early to wish for the 3.5EB?

True, and the 5.0 gets 11mpg when flogged according to the Daily News review. Ouch! The 3.5 EB in a non-special edition Mustang is an awesome pipe dream, but it won't happen because it would pretty easily eclipse the 5.0's performance and because the EB is not intended to be a performance play...
  14. Pericak gives more details on 15 GT vs. Boss track performance

Right? I mean, Pericak's word hasn't been 100% correct so far anyway (remember the interview talking about all the weight loss?), so without sounding like too much of a skeptic....I'll believe 1.5 seconds better than the Boss on that track when I see it.
  15. PistonHeads Review (EcoBoost)

Right? Kinda weird how much more they seem to like it than the US press.
  16. His Turn:Her Turn review (GT)

That was the most enjoyable 8 minutes I've spent all week. I know not every review could be like that, but that was much needed after all the negativity/mediocrity of last two days.
  17. Ecoboost Tune

Yeah, I agree on the tq. Even the freakin' 1.6L ecoboost in the Fiesta ST is a TORQUE MONSTER with a tune. Hp? Eh, it's there. But it's no monster.
  18. Ecoboost loses 13% power on 87 octane [Updated with Ford training materials]

True, but 40hp is still too much. Doesn't pass the smell test; honestly I can't believe that a 310hp motor is suddenly a 270hp motor from 6pts of octane. I think tuners like Cobb will have this number MUCH MORE precisely figured out in the next couple weeks, and it WON'T be 40hp. Maybe 20. But I...
  19. Octane for '15 5.0

Run the best octane you can in a performance motor. Not doing so is a total false economy. How many miles a year do you drive? Divide that by 20 to get your gallons burned. Multiply that by 0.75 to get your add'l dollars spent to consistently run premium fuel. What's the number? If it's under...
