  1. TSB for Secondary Cam Chain Tensioner

To help clear up anything I said that was confusing. The tech was only speaking from observation. His thoughts are that it was activated but weak, and oil pressure does give enough support to keep from having a catastrophic failure. There many of us that have 2 - 5k miles and something kept...
  2. TSB for Secondary Cam Chain Tensioner

Sorry about that typo. Let me restate. Both sides not activated or yes both sides faulty. However you want to state it. Thanks,
  3. TSB for Secondary Cam Chain Tensioner

One other point to consider in this faulty part or builder error? How many Predator engines have been discovered? And who’s the builder? If you look at post 169, there is a plaque with builder names and the builder in question, name is right in the middle. I am sure there were predator engines...
  4. TSB for Secondary Cam Chain Tensioner

    Both sides not faulty/not activated.
  5. TSB for Secondary Cam Chain Tensioner

I agree it is a slim chance. But have seen it happen, out of literally thousands of parts produce a series of a dozen or two defective, and maybe the builder hit lottery of getting a box of defective tensioners to pull from? Just being objective before conclusive.
  6. TSB for Secondary Cam Chain Tensioner

I think he is saying it’s a faulty tensioner.
  7. TSB for Secondary Cam Chain Tensioner

Update on my failed tensioner. The tech got started today, got it tore down to the the chain/tensioners. I was able to talked extensively with him about my engine and the overall problem. He rotated my engine many times and it was always aligned up in time. So we feel confident it is good to...
  8. TSB for Secondary Cam Chain Tensioner

Never an issue starting, no rough idling. As stated in one of my prior post, I would catch a little blip at a red light, this was very rarely, it typically surprised me. Chalked this up to maybe being a FPC.
  9. TSB for Secondary Cam Chain Tensioner

Had similar response from the SM. He didn’t believe the car would be running that well or it would have already blown if it were not activated. The mechanic agreed with my assessment of not activated.
  10. TSB for Secondary Cam Chain Tensioner

I definiatly respect a lot of you men on these post, especially the ones who have been into the Coyote and 5.2’s. I never have (yet). I am more of an 60’s & 70’s engine man, and am presently 80% through a total frame off rebuild of a ‘66 Vette (327). My question about activation is simple. Is...
  11. TSB for Secondary Cam Chain Tensioner

Besides seeing that the shaft is not extended, my chain never did look taunt, or have that slight tri-oval look about it as it looks in the video. It actually looked somewhat slack
  12. TSB for Secondary Cam Chain Tensioner

Kind of eerie. SM and I did have a discussion that if it has jumped timing, this would either be a practical rebuild or replacement. That would be a call Ford would make. I do not believe dealer will rebuild this engine. I have not stated builders name, don’t know if this is good to do or...
  13. TSB for Secondary Cam Chain Tensioner

Our situation is almost exactly at the same place. See post 129, 172. I installed a tow hook back in December, so I had mine towed in. Crazy thing is if I had not seen Chairmans post, i would be driving the car today, thanks. Dealer has my car now, parts to change the tensioner and chains...
  14. TSB for Secondary Cam Chain Tensioner

If you have a lot of confidence in your dealer, you could pay them to look at it or get a trusted shop to evaluate if you can not make an exact determination. I reported on my issue last Friday, L029 is on the list. As stated in my post, I was convinced mine is defective. I could see it good...
  15. TSB for Secondary Cam Chain Tensioner

    Not a chance, thanks.
  16. TSB for Secondary Cam Chain Tensioner

Performed the check according to the procedure. My first observation the tensioner was in the collapsed position. Began rotating the engine per procedure, checked tensioner position every 90’ of rotation until engine had traveled the full 255’, no change in the tensioner position. Car...
  17. What? No "dead of winter" cup2 tire deals this year?

Also, never tracked street driven only.
  18. What? No "dead of winter" cup2 tire deals this year?

Throw this one out there Set of cup 2’s on Base 350, 2100 miles, one front one rear had to be patched due to screw punctures. Purchased 1 additional rear 305 - 1000miles ago no issue. So basically there are three good tires, one 295, two 305’s. One 295 with patch and 305 with plug. Both still...
