  1. SCCA F-Street Setup. What's Everyone Done so Far?

There are trade-offs everywhere. Run the 40 and get a little more MPH. Run the 35 and get a little more grip. And it's all theoretical anyway. I run the 40s - 265/285 MPSS.
  2. Wheel hop solutions: BMR v Steeda

This is great. But some of us no longer find 9 second stab it and steer it challenging. Did that. Working now on improving driving skill on road course and autocross.
  3. My Complete Suspension Comparisons to date, Springs, shocks, Coilovers ETC. READ

I don't care for the Ground Controls mated with Koni SA yellows that I used on our Prelude. Even with a moderate spring rate, lot's of bottom-out (compression non-adjustable and ride is harsh). I also don't care for their use of anodized aluminum for the adjusters. I had a heck of a time...
  4. What did you do to your S550 Mustang today?!

IMHO, the vid doesn't demonstrate intent to harm. It looks like careless driving which may have resulted in a damaged wheel. I say "may have" because some carriers play the attempted fraud card to avoid paying claims, and may state the whole thing was staged and/or the wheel was already...
  5. SCCA F-Street Setup. What's Everyone Done so Far?

FWIW, on my '16 I found that taking a bit of tension off the lower arm allowed a couple of swings from a BFH to knock those out without air tools (and I have the air tools). I've done this three times now for various reasons and it works slick. The issue is getting the jack to put the right...
  6. Hub Centric Rings

I think there is a bit of overstatement here. Hubcentric means that the wheel is centered on the hub rather than with the lugs (lug centric). The clamping force is transferred to the hub riding on the axle. But the fitment of the wheel over the axle hub center so there is a tight fit with no...
  7. G2 Caliper paint

I've used both the brush-on and spray-on mostly for street use with some autocross and open track thrown in. Colors were red and black. Red attracts dirt and is more noticeable but tends to hold the color when cleaned. Black doesn't show the dirt but still gets dirty. However, the black...
  8. Hub Centric Rings

I believe "hub centric" isn't a centering device, but rather a load carrying device. By having the wheel hub-centered correctly, the load rides on the hub rather than on the studs. The studs/lug nuts are fasteners and when correctly used hold the wheel to the hub. I've used plastic and...
  9. Proposed Solo Class STP(ony)

I'm switching to STP for the '18 season. Initially running KWv3s with the KW springs (unknown rates), MM CC plates. Intend to do a modified PP1 and add some serious rubber (currently on stock PP wheels with MPSS). This is not a nationals build. Just tired of the FS limitations.
  10. What did you do to your S550 Mustang today?!

The Fox guys were on this too when switching to the 13" Cobra units. While the front calipers were painted red/silver/yellow/etc. leaving the cage black, some decided to paint both the rear caliper and cage the matching color. This created the illusion of a bigger rear caliper. But because...
  11. SCCA F-Street Setup. What's Everyone Done so Far?

The KPI is measured using the upper strut mount through the strut center to the lower ball joint against true vertical. KPI does not include camber and generally is not adjustable. Thus, true vertical perforce is parallel to the hub face. When camber is added the two dimension combine - called...
  12. Ridetech Level 2 Coilovers installed:

The bolt was designed to correct alignment variances due to accidents - hence the name "crash bolt". While it allows camber adjustment similar to slotting the strut, it throughs-off other suspension geometry. These cars use double lower ball joints which creates a virtual steering pivot...
  13. Ridetech Level 2 Coilovers installed:

Rebound actually determines how fast the spring recovers from compression. It it recovers too fast the chassis is upset for the next element/corner and hence loss of traction. In the front, you want compression set to allow the spring compression which permits weigh transfer increasing front...
  14. What did you do to your S550 Mustang today?!

^^^ x2. I've even put the stuff on the stock studs and any fastener that is not already sealed with loctite. I'm especially diligent where water, heat (as in exhaust) and dissimilar metals are involved.
  15. SCCA F-Street Setup. What's Everyone Done so Far?

Agreed to a point. Recall that this front suspension is similar in design to the Bimmer strut - two lower ball joints. This creates a "virtual" steering pivot - not easy to calculate. Setting that aside, the KPI measurement assumes a given angle to the hub mounting face - included angle...
  16. Suspension v wheels/tires v coils?

I found an upgrade to double adjustable struts/shocks - mine are KWv3 - makes a huge difference in handling compliance and grip. This is a kit with springs included. The addition of MPSS tires on stock wheels made a large improvement too. All the other stuff may or may not improve grip. But...
  17. Where is the Öhlins Road and track suspension?

Those e-bay Ohlins are also compression/rebound adjustable with ONE knob - not individually adjustable. Given the price I'd want some feedback first.
  18. SCCA F-Street Setup. What's Everyone Done so Far?

We were discussing why some guys moving from FS to another class and why. I'm going to STP. Hence the CC plates. Yes it does. Confirmed by MM. When we slot the strut, the angle of the spindle changes relative to the strut - changing camber (+/-) depending on which way you move the...
  19. What did you do to your S550 Mustang today?!

So Bezos and company understand supply and demand and built price algorithms into their tracking model. Yep, pretty sharp :).

A lot of folks confuse bump steer with tramlining. I have tramlining with my set-up but no bump steer. But I run a little toe out on mine so the tramlining is a little more pronounced.
