Can I just say that I'm shocked that it's tuned for 87 and 93...
When 93 isn't available in them there yuppie states, and 87 is garbage.
Even my 25 year old Lincoln gets the good stuff.
You do realized alot of info has spilled since Dodge announced all the Hellcat info...
Think the GT350 videos where really just some dudes standing on the side of the Ring? Think it's co-incidence we get a HP figure the same week? GM is doing the same thing.
And the genius of Chevy theory, is...
People forget it's JUST a GT! This isn't a special edition, Shelby, Boss, SVT, etc..
It isn't going to be the end all be all and the ignorance is astounding.
The 6th gen Camaro, IS NOT going to be lighter than the current model. And while the LT1 is looking obvious, I doubt it will be the base...
And the mustang has a better quicker shifting pair of 6 speeds, less weight, more agressive gearing, and a very stout tq curve...
Likely a drivers race, but also, how many people REALLY want a Dodge?
I'd drive a GM before a Dodge.
GT track pack with Recaros MSRPs $37,500
But I don't see the Dodge being faster.
Sure it has extra power, but it's got a large weight disadvantage.
And to get it with the magical 8 speed that is the only saving grace to the overweight dodge camp... it gets in to the $42k range
I personally don't care. I just don't give a shit until it's from a FORD source. Motor Trend, Car and Driver, and Road and Track... has been wrong and full of crap before.
Whats he's saying is that while the engine shows up there, the SAE site gives NO HP/TQ figures. All that tells us is that it's been certified... no mention of power numbers. So untill it's on a FORD document or from a Ford source, this numbers are preliminary. From what I've seen there isn't any...
COnjecture eh? straight from the article... Here are the official numbers, straight from Ford, "pending certification."
I guess ford as the source is conjecture...
You missed the BIG thing here... these numbers are PENDING currently, as in, NOT certified yet. There is room to grow. They said 650hp for the Shelby while it was still pending and 12 extra horses showed up.... Being just 9hp off of the Boss, don't be shocked if they get found in the corral by...
Well the Boss made 444hp and 380tq @ 3,631lbs
The new GT is 435hp and 400tq @ 3,705lbs
With IRS and the upgrades from the PP I see now reason the GT couldn't equal or best the Boss. 74lbs ain't shit.
My mistake was going alittle fast typing. But still a catch can isn't going to solve everything. Otherwise Audi, BMW, etc.. wouldn't be having these issues.
The Stang isn't going to switch to an all aluminum body like the F150 for a good while. The F-150 body is a box on a frame. The Mustang is all once piece, uni-body, so all of that structure would be aluminum, and very expensive. I would see that adding $8-10k per car between materials and...
Uh... the R/T is rated at 375hp and 410tq....
the SRT8 392 makes the 485hp 475tq... hence it's not the GT's competition
Unless you mean the "Scat Pack" which STARTS at $39k and goes up from there, not counting the ADM of course.
I don't see anything to complain about. Ford built an engine and left ALOT on the table for tuners. I'd bet cash on a tune alone gaining 20+hp and 15+tq. And while the car is heavier... 86lbs isn't bad. Hell to keep the weight from going higher than that probably took alot of work.
And whoever...
I am a wee bit biased. I'd love to see them offer a modern hot rod lincoln. They need to start really being a modern luxury brand. This means performance! Period.
Lincoln needs to remember that once upon a time they made something like that already. I drive one. The Mark VII. A foxbody Lincoln that out gunned most of Europe's finest in it's day...
I love mine. It's nice having a comfy, quick, 2 door with a backseat big enough for adults.
Granted mine is...
