After cutting I was able to slip the heat shield I between the two solid coolant lines. I was freaking out thinking I had to weld something on the stripped screw or drill it out God forbid. Hope this helps
I ran into the same issue and just made a 3 1/2 inch cut into the heat shield allowing to pull it back far enough to install WGA.

I just removed mine took like 30 seconds. Btw try not to have your head near the spring when you slide it off, the two plastic ends kind've fly off. Lol Here's a pic of the spring and the plastic ends shortly after removal. Oh and like everyone else says, wear something to protect them eyes!
