Well, I've just been offered the V7 JT-trim Vortech 8rib tuner kit for about $1k less than the Paxton tuner kit...should I do this instead?
This supplier suggests it's the same thing as the 2200HD.....is it?
When I read some other listings for the kit in question(4FQ218-164JT) it suggests it's a...
Thanks Bo,
Yes that's what I thought you meant.
I think if I go ahead I'll do the 2200HD, Helical gears and 8rib more for piece of mind than anything else.
Plus I can go the torque boost method which will probably mean an 8rib is more desirable anyway with higher load at lower rpm.
Yes the...
So let me confirm...
The 2200SL is 6rib, Self lubricated Helical geared but you can option 8rib and/or straight cut gears.
The 2200HD is 8rib straight off the bat and is engine oiled but helical geared unless you option straight cut?
Is this thing worth considering...
Thanks Burkey,
Begs the question.....At what point do stock lines become a limitation or the rails for that matter? Or is it more to do with restrictions at the fittings is it's a problem at all?
This is a good discussion peeps!
On the subject of the Vortech vs the Paxton(as noted above) i'm thinking it's a bit like Turbo sizing...go too big and you'll have no bottom end?
So that's an important consideration.
Kcc, what were you trying to say as a reason to go with a turbo kit? Your...
Cheers kcc,
Are you suggesting that the SL is somehow different in the gearbox? Or is it overtemp with the self contained oil setup?
It will be primarily on the street that I use it but certainly I think it may go "plink" anyway. Or maybe axles.
I'd do plugs right off the bat and from the reports the 6rib isn't a problem for most set-ups. Myself I'll probably go 8-rib and Engine oil fed HD compressor straight up because I know I always want more later and that will future proof it to a degree and I just don't like the idea of having to...
This looks like a good option on the pump front....

Thanks but no I won't consider E85. Too variable, too hard to get and too corrosive.
Btw does that filter on the blower suck a lot of hot air? Did you do that because the airbox is problematic?
It appears the 350 intake didn't pose any real problems for you?
Thanks Lads,
I already have the complete GT350 setup(including T-body jlstro3) and 1 3/4" ARH headers that I have yet to fit. I bought the gear when the '18 didn't exist so....
I was leaning toward you guys at Beefcake for the kit anyway but I won't do E85 and the Intake was to see how far I...
Thanks smann,
Are those hp figures measured on a Dynojet? Those inertia dyno's aren't very common here in Australia so I'll see a smaller numbers, but the same performance or course. Our 98 fuel is the same as your 93 too.
Yeah I can drive good. I can make the clutch live.
I think I'd rather...
