  1. 2015 Mustang Horsepower / Torque Figures and Weight Released!

The new 5.0 isn't remotely "under-rated" because its claimed output has been third-party SAE certified. That's the gold standard for honesty in ratings. It's voluntary on the part of the manufacturer (in this case Ford): http://www.sae.org/certifiedpower/data/...
  2. 2015 Mustang Horsepower / Torque Figures and Weight Released!

The Challenger is some 500 pounds heavier than the '15 Mustang GT. The Mustang actually enjoys a slight advantage in terms of weight to horsepower ratio. in other words, you're wrong. The two will be very evenly matched in terms of acceleration, with a slight edge going to the Mustang if it's...
  3. 2015 Mustang Horsepower / Torque Figures and Weight Released!

Perhaps you can annotate the 5.0's rating as "SAE certified per levels 1 and 2" in order to end wild speculation about this engine's "real" output. Because it's SAE certified (voluntary, on the part of Ford in this case), 435 HP is the actual peak power. It's neither "under-rated" not...
  4. 2015 Mustang Horsepower / Torque Figures and Weight Released!

This engine is SAE third party certified at 435 HP. SAE certified is voluntary on the part of the manufacturers, and is THE GOLD STANDARD for honest horsepower and torque figures. Sorry to tell you that this engine makes 435 HP - no more and no less: http://www.sae.org/certifiedpower/data/...
  5. 2015 Mustang Horsepower / Torque Figures and Weight Released!

At best, that's only going to partially offset the vehicle's added weight. The most recent gen. Boss 302s will still be faster cars, though not by much.
  6. 2015 Mustang Horsepower / Torque Figures and Weight Released!

    You left out "more weight.":eyebulge:
  7. 2015 Mustang Horsepower / Torque Figures and Weight Released!

It's not even "under-rated" by a bit. This rating has been third party SAE certified at 435 Net HP. "SAE certified" is the gold standard for horsepower and torque ratings. Here are the related links to the SAE's (Society of Automotive Engineering's) website...
  8. 2015 Mustang Horsepower / Torque Figures and Weight Released!

Under full throttle acceleration, "the curve" means very little because only the upper portion of it is used during full throttle acceleration runs that involve shifting at/near redline. Plus, the new car is heavier...
  9. 2015 Mustang Horsepower / Torque Figures and Weight Released!

The new car is heavier than the Boss you're referring to. Also, the lower to lower-mid point of "the curve" isn't used during full throttle acceleration runs (except for first gear, unless the clutch is dumped at high revs). The Boss will likely prove slightly quicker than the '15 GT in a...
  10. 2015 Mustang Horsepower / Torque Figures and Weight Released!

The 5.0's figures are third party SAE certified. That means the rating is 100% legitimate - neither under no over rated. http://www.sae.org/certifiedpower/details.htm People on these various boards need to stop suggesting that everything is "under-rated" - especially in cases where the...
  11. 2015 Mustang Horsepower / Torque Figures and Weight Released!

No manufacturers "rates" their engines at "RWHP." All engines are rated under the SAE Net procedure, which mandates "at the flywheel." Many of the German makes sandbag on the ratings, and drivewheel horsepower can sometimes meet and even beat that rating. But they aren't intentionally rating...
  12. Ecoboost Fuel Requirements 87 or 91+ octane?

Same with my '10 and my present '13 GTIs... But 91 is the minimum required octane requirement for the GTI. The new Ecoboost is 87, with 91 or more being "recommended." The Ecoboost will run much better than our GTis on 87 octane, but it'll pull stronger and get better fuel economy with...
  13. Ecoboost Fuel Requirements 87 or 91+ octane?

"Run 25 psi" with 91 octane? Where are you getting that information? People are going to spend a lot of money on these cars, and they deserve solid, fact-based answers to their questions.
  14. Engine Pics of each model (GT, V6, EcoBoost)

It wouldn't be too difficult to remove the 15's tank, mask the bottom, spray paint the top in matte black (using a proper plastic paint such as Krylon's "Fusion") and reinstall it.
  15. WardsAuto: Ecoboost Ride Along

I drove my first '15 GTI today. It was a silver 6 speed manual. Phenomenal drive.; it made my '13 Autobahn (with just 16K miles on the clock) seem like an old car. There are faster cars on the road than GTIs, but the entire package is very hard to beat - great seats, awesome fit and finish...
  16. Rumor: Steeda Blog - 2015 Mustang Weight Gain (Updated with Steeda's Response)

Engine for engine, the new Mustang will NOT weigh 300 pounds more than the current car. It makes use of more aluminum and more high strength steel than the current cars, and overall size is very similar. The current gen Camaros and Challengers are larger cars than either the current gen or the...
  17. WardsAuto: Ecoboost Ride Along

I think you have a have a good point there. :clap2:
  18. Rumor: Steeda Blog - 2015 Mustang Weight Gain (Updated with Steeda's Response)

Whether that's true or not, I think it's safe to say that the popularly claimed LOSS of "400 pounds" isn't happening. Still, I don't see the car gaining weight because it uses more high strength steel and aluminum than the current gen, while exterior dimensions are abut the same.
