I'm very happy to hear that! I have been thinking that the transmission itself was going to go bad since the clutch gave up the ghost so easily and the shifter was crap.. I had no reason to believe that the internals were any better.
I tracked it at CMP in May and the clutch, shifter and trans...
I did exactly this -- the stock clutch crapped out and I replaced it with an Exedy Hyper Single clutch, and at the same time I replaced the painfully bad stock shifter with an MGW X-Spec low profile shifter. Wow! What a difference!
What makes you feel that the MT-82 internals are good and robust?
Posting this here mostly for other Mustang GT owners who search the forums for "fuel filter"...
You are not wrong. The regular GT has one of those in tank, non serviceable, "sock" style fuel filters.
I can give you my experience from tracking my 2015 Mustang GT FBO against stock Camaro SS 1LEs... they're fast, right from the factory. They make good power and have magnaride dampening, so they kick ass around the track. They burn a lot of oil on the track, though. One guy put 2 quarts in...
Road course = Exedy Hyper Single clutch. It will also work on the drag strip, as it will hold 735 ft/lb of torque.
Twin disk = drag strip only. My RST is off to McLeod for rebuild after just 13000 miles and 9 trips to the road course.
I got the car back on Friday with the Exedy Hyper Single clutch installed. This is the same clutch as what used to be called the "Exedy Mach 500 Stage 3".. they just renamed it from what I can tell.
My buddy (an expert driving instructor for race tracks and Extreme Experience) and I drove it...
A buddy of mine has a GT350 and he had an unexpected off track excursion a couple of years ago. The tow truck showed up, hooked up and proceeded to pull the front fascia right off the car! The driver didn't know where to place the hook and chose poorly.
My buddy has a tow hook now.
I chose the...
Well, I'm considering going with the Exedy Mach 500 Stage 3 clutch (AKA Exedy Racing Stage 1). Anyone have any experience with this one?
I like that it should feel close to stock without the shuddering and chatter of the McLeod.
Hi AlbertD, I know it's been a minute since you posted this, but I thought that I would see if you have anything else to add about the 500 and see what you recommend.
My car is a '15 with 465hp/406tq at the wheels after lots of upgrades (JLT CAI + 2018 intake manifold + ARH full exhaust +...
A friend of mine suggested getting a new clutch and keeping this one as a backup in case this happens again. That's not out of the question... but what clutch would y'all recommend for a 465hp NA for the road course?
The tuner recommends a McLeod RXT which is a bit more sturdy than the RST is...
I was hoping that it was something that could be adjusted at ProDyno.. but nope.
I absolutely will keep y'all posted. I am sure I won't be the only one to have this problem with their clutch, and hopefully it will help the community once we get the info.
He's going to give me the RMA number...
ProDyno has the car now and has checked everything. Unfortunately they cannot find anything wrong, so they're going to send the clutch back to McLeod for them to measure and see if the pressure plate has become unsprung. Unfortunately this process takes a long time because of Covid-19. They're...
Thanks for all of your replies, guys! I'm taking the car back to the place that installed the clutch.. Dan (the owner of the shop) is curious what is going on. It's only had 9 track days and 13k miles since they installed it, which isn't anything for that clutch. I'll follow up with what they...
I need an idea on what might be going on with my clutch and how bad the damage to my wallet is going to be when I fix it. :piggybank:
My stock clutch was definitely not up to the rigors of the HPDE track days and went up in a big ass puff of smoke just after turn 11 at Carolina Motorsports Park...
I just got the MGW Low Profile X-Spec installed yesterday and chose the gripper ball with an aluminum topper. It's absolutely phenomenal and hands down the best shifter I've ever used.
That being said, to address your question about the Raceseng shift knob on an MGW, check out this video for...
"What we would never do is compromise," he declared. "If it's a Mustang, it'll be a Mustang. Whatever is offered will be a Mustang and live up to the Mustang expectation."
Well nobody in their right mind would expect the Mustang Mach E to be called a Mustang.. it certainly does not live up to a...
