No, I know what the MAF is on these cars. I'm talking about the actual ID in the area of the pipe the maf is measuring. I know it doesn't have a dedicated maf housing like you show in your pictures but the concept is the same. Its obviously larger on the JLT which is why you need a tune. Unless...
its obviously a combination of increased MAF ID and the tune not so much patented intake design. I agree I wish it was a bit more clear about the pro and cons in the actual design vs the stock system.
yea I like that design alot. I wonder if you will be able to run that intake on a regular 5.0. I'm sure that design eliminates much of the heat soak issues even being open element.
EDIT: JLT system has something similar for a baffle.
I think at the end of the day its what people want to achieve with their setup. If you are looking to maximize all the power you can out of an NA setup with intake, tune, headers, e85 maybe, a few hp here and there can go a long way. I believe that is what jay is trying to say.
Thats interesting. Like I said earlier I'm never a fan of these open element air filters since it really hurts your IATS. You could have experienced this on your setup which is why the stock intake was probably better. So I guess the general idea is with a stock intake manifold or even boss, the...
Im not sure this is exaclty false. I have seen the results from The CJ manifold on my buddies 11 GT and the huge instake and throttle body made a signifcant difference from the factory setup (not just the benefits of the manifold itself since the cj and boss are similar but the larger intake...
I disagree with a lot of this. I have been tuning DI turbo Audis/VWs for the last 5 years and it doesn't do anything for allowing more boost/timing compared to port injection cars. Car companies loving using it on turbo cars because they make motors produce 350HP but still get 30MPG. Porsche is...
if that is the case, there is no question the JLT will provide significant gains with proper tuning. I wish there was a way to use the stock airbox though.
What is the MAF ID? Is it larger than stock? Its hard to imagine picking up 2mph trap speed with an ots tune just from an intake. Not sure that is the case here
My experience with aftermarket intakes and tuning is its all about the MAF ID size and scaling it properly in the tune. On the b5 s4 you can just change out the maf housing and utilize the stock airbox. Going to an 85MM Maf from the stock housing is a huge difference (a bit different since its a...
I noticed my car had some slight swirling in the paint when I received the car from the dealership. I tried sonax perfect finish on an tangerine pad (ultra fine) on my rotary. I started out at about 1000 RPM and speed it up to about 1500 RPM. It came out decent but I still have some slight...
a 5.5mm bolt would fit both a 5.5mm and 7/32 wrench. The only way to no for sure is to measure it with a caliper. I'm pretty sure they are metric though as others have said.
First of all the focus RS is geared to a totally different demograph then the mustang is. Here in the northeast most people do not cross shop the STi, EVO, Golf R, S3, with the Mustang GT. For people that can only have 1 car in the north east the mustang is just not practical at all being a RWD...
my guess for the 5.5mm screw is it would have probably would been a Philips, slotted or even an allen screw but due to access restrictions they used a hex bolt head instead so you can fit a box wrench in there to remove it. 5.5mm is super small for any fastener usually found on a car.
When I...
I guess you don't know german cars too well. You know anytime they implement new systems like that its always super complicated which often leads to premature failure. I'm pretty sure this water injection will do very little for carbon buildup though.
$300 is a steal of a price. Even local guys that do side work want $500-600 around these parts. I guess it depends on the car but something like a B7 RS4, it actually takes an entire day to do it. Its really tedious work. I hate DI with a passion and I just get annoyed when its added for no...
