For the Iowa winter rust belt, I clean off the rust, liberally apply moly EP grease and rub in/wipe off the excess. People will say I'm crazy, but the moly seems to get into the pores of the metal and prevents future rust. I've had 30 years of rust free hubs. I had to learn the hard way when a...
In the past week, I received 2 official recall letters from Ford. The first one for the backup camera and the second for the brake bracket. The camera recall is on the NHTSA site and Ford Pass, the brake bracket recall is on neither. (???)
I stuck mine on the shop note board just in case somebody says "you shoulda kept that".
My # is 9207. I thought it might have been a last minute software update.
Googling around for small/narrow 20" tires, I found Nitto NeoGen 225/30-20. It has an OD of 25.3,
a width of 8.82 and fits a 8" rim. An 8"x20" rim w/ a spacer to move it out past the caliper might
be shade tree engineered as a "get you home solution". A rim with small enough offset might work...
My drivers side was also sticky. I had to drop the hood from over a foot in the air to get it to latch.
I HATE slamming hoods, even my wife noticed and asked what was going on.
I applied some non-aerosol liquid silicone lube to the depressed button and let it soak through.
Hood will now latch by...
Valve stem placement is different on fronts vs rears. The stem in the photo is in a "front" position.
(For non-CF wheels) Rear stems are between the paired spokes. I can't think of any reason an
over-seas model would be different.
I run my VIN through this link each day to see what pops up.
Today, for the first time, I got a Field Service Action notice for the backup camera.
Nothing on the brake pedal bracket yet. :frown:
Like Seered, I probably wouldn't do it, but the rear louver combined with the 1/4 louver really works better than either alone. It's kinda growing on me. Do they come in black to match the spoiler?
I used a digital inspection camera and snaked the flex cable through the dash on the lower left side of the steering column. Same PP GF40 as everyone else (build date 3/20).
Andy is right, at least according to some posts several months ago. There was discussion about not putting on the splitter and someone said if you snag those tabs it means a new lower facia (repaint) and the pain of matching the stripes. Hope I misunderstood what they were saying.
It should be covered by a round 1" black grill with a diamond pattern. Looks like it's a microphone, but I'm not sure why it's back there unless it's part of the system that pipes engine sounds into the audio????? I'd hunt around in the seat creases or under the seats. I found several trim...
The bolt has an o-ring to seal the bolt to valve body, what seals the valve body to the pan?
Is there an second o-ring or nylon washer? None of the online photos show anything.
I did not like the looks of the lower sticking out beyond the flap(about a 1/4"), so I contacted Rokblokz and asked about a wider flap for the GT500.
They whipped out a custom flap that is 1/2" beyond the lower. I machined a 1" x 1" x 3-1/2" ABS angle bracket and 3M VHB taped it to the inside
of...
