I just got back from a very hot track day and on my third session I was super low on fuel. It was right at the empty line when I finished. I did ease up on my last lap as they were long, 3 miles. I had zero issues with fuel starvation on high G corners and pump was fine.
I don't think your...
I forgot to mention that towards the end of the day, my Mach 1 was losing power. I am sure the very hot, thin air was causing the computer to pull the fuel back. Some of the straightaways I could just feel the car lacking power.
Results from hot day, how hot? 109F air temp and 138F track temp by end of the day. The Mach 1 ran flawless and the tires faired quite well. The wife's 2015 Mustang GT did get hot and went into limp mode on her last run. A simple restart fixed it. Her tires were Nitto NT555 G2 and they were...
Yea, the 2015 does not have a rear dif temp gauge. I might have to check the dif cover with my laser temp reader after a session. She won't be pushing the car too hard, so I don't think it will be too bad. I beat that car real hard on the track when I owned it and never had any issues.
I've seen the rear melt before, specifically the rear reflector. I have a bone stock exhaust on the Mach 1, so I hope that doesn't happen. The wife's 2015 Mustang GT has Corsa exhaust and I specifically have the tips sticking out to keep the hot exhaust clear of the bumper.
Great replies. I was mostly wondering about how the car will take the heat. I suspected Ford has dealt with it with the extra coolers and what not, and the comments from some of you confirm that.
As for teaching the wife, brave yes, crazy, even more so. She used to race cars many many years...
I have a track day next week at Area 27. Temp forecast is 39C or 102F. Track and paddock temps are likely way higher. Humidity will be low at this location.
Running brand new, heat cycled tires. What can I expect with this Mach 1? It is the 6sp manual, so trans temps should not be an...
Just found another article, it was turn 1. This surprises me as this is a fairly easy corner to navigate. Pretty high speed braking zone downhill. Wonder if it was brake fade/failure. Sad.
Read in our news that 2 people died in a crash at the private Track Area 27. The driver and passenger died when their car lost control and hit a concrete wall. Really shocking to hear when stuff like this happens at a HPDE event, so rare. Actually I am not sure if this was an HPDE event or...
