Thanks, but in your installation you never hook up the large connector with the red/white RCA cables. I don't have the small connector you use to connect the cable that goes into the little box (with the single yellow RCA), as you can see in my picture above.
Really hope someone can help me...
Thanks for the quick responses.
I definitely don't have another USB connector, this is the only one that plugs into the back of my MyFordTouch screen. The other thing that plugs into the MFT screen is thw large cable you see at the top of the photo that shows the metal piece. Thr USB connector...
I changed it to Mustang Hi and rebooted, didn't work. HVAC just doesn't respond at all (tapping the power button doesn't turn it on and none of the other buttons respond). The physical buttons on the unit do not turn on the A/C either.
What do you mean with "the small swing-hook connector"...
Does your backup camera have a standard RCA connector coming from the car? I suspect mine is the other yellow antenna like cable that went into the factory CD player box.
I'm starting to think I need a different set of cables with my Premium model. I connected everything as I could decipher...
Now that my car is all hacked up, couple of questions (I have an EcoBoost Premium model):
The original "brain" unit (with the CD player) has two of those antenna-type connectors (yellow and black). The PDF guide only shows 1 red connector, which is from the base model I assume. Any thoughts...
I was just taking a closer look at the cables, as I was pondering how to integrate a dash cam. Did anyone ever figure out these chinese labels on the cable with all these ends? There's another one with AUX IN L/R/Video (English labels) as well.
Likely too much heat and/or on the pad for too long. They're very fragile :( Next time, try sliding it parallel to the board instead of pulling it up, less chance of ripping off the pad.
PCBs don't have more conductive material in then, it's fiberglass. If you desolder the pad, your best bet is a silver pen to repair it, but it's very hard with SMD-size components/pads.
Next time make sure you have a good soldering iron with temperature control.
Also, I'm lazy, so I ordered...
Right, so 0805 for the toggles and 0603 for the buttons? Wonder if the 0805s will work on the buttons, otherwise I might leave those or just remove them.
Back at home and I unpacked my unit. A screw was loose inside that held the screen in place, but it was easy enough to fix.
Q: what SMD LEDs did you guys use to replace the green ones with?
Also: did anyone end up using a dashcam with the unit?
Thanks for the quick response.
The mirroring bug is a tough sell for me, as my current (and future) phones will have Nougat at a minimum.
What Android version is realistic in your opinion? I'd love to at least get the Material design style on there to make it not look so outdated.
That being...
I'm also in, provided:
The audio quality isn't degraded (too much). I have the Shaker audio system (EcoBoost Premium)
The phone mirroring bug is fixable
The Mode button does what it's supposed to if you have the Performance pack
The OS is updateable to 7 (not a hard requirement like other...
