Okay, I see that there could be a problem with the rods.
Tried contact spray to no avail.
I wish I could replace only the rods with new ones, but I can't find rods only for sale.Have you seen rods only for sale?
Thanks for the detailed and clear explanation.
As soon as the calipers arrive, I would like to measure them.
After all, this part is not sold by itself, is it?The only way to fix it is through assembly.
They are probably about the same length, but I don't have calipers so I would like to order some and measure them.
If this is worn out, do you sell parts for the rod only?
I will try the contact cleaner ASAP.
I removed the shift knob and checked the tip of the rod, but there was no particular wear.
The best place to check is the top end of the rod, right?
Replacing this part is expensive and seems like a lot of work.
I would like to try the contact spray.
It seems likely that the chime is being caused by poor response of the microswitch.
When I actually stopped the engine while pressing the microswitch, the chime did not sound.
The problem is I...
I see, I understand.
The circle in the attached photo looks like the lock actuator, but can't you see the chime microswitch from here?
The shift lock actuator on my car repeatedly releases and locks when I step on the brake, so this may be related.
That's probably the same problem as me.
Could you please give me more details about the micro switch and the shift lever rod?
By rod do you mean the part marked with a circle?
I'm going to take a closer look at the inside of the shifter and order some new parts if they are needed.
I've only ever bought parts on eBay so I'm very grateful.
I appreciate your suggestions.
I'm using the original shift knob, but this car has over 60k on it so it may be worn out.
I'll use this thread as a reference to take a look inside the shift knob.
The shift knob still rattles even after shifting into P, and the chime seems to go away if you intentionally shake the shift knob...
My car is automatic.
Indeed, there were times when the P on the meter was not lit.
The lights are always off so I don't think that's a problem. In fact, today the chime went off even when I turned the lights off manually and with the automatic lights on.
Maybe the car thinks it's not in park.
Is...
Normally, the meter needle should turn off after the engine is turned off, but in my car, the meter needle does not turn off and a chime sounds.
I want to try forscan to see if there is something wrong with my car.
Hello.
My 2016 Mustang automatic has a constant chime that goes off when I turn the engine off and open the door.
Normally when you turn off the engine, the meter needle light goes out and the interior light comes on, but in my case, even when I turn off the engine, the meter needle stays on but...
