2011 Mustang 3.7 rod bearing question

So i have a 3.7 v6 out of a 2011 mustang that i suspected of having a rod knock. i felt all the caps and felt no side to side movement but when i took one off i noticed very heavy scars and indentations. although i felt no play would that still make the rod noise?

it has no radial movement, the axial movement is in spec
