In the last week or two, someone at my work stole some things from the office fridge and kitchen.
2 Gatorades, someone's Chinese food, and the dish soap on the counter.

Protip for dealing with office food theft: The thief knows they're a thief.
Leaving a note, or putting your initials on the Gatorade cap, basically never works.

For deterrence to work, it takes more effort than that. For example:

When the thief took Gatorade #3, I wonder if they noticed the cap wasn't sealed.
I drank some of that Gatorade, replaced the missing volume with laxative, then wrote my initials on the cap as a reminder to myself not to drink it.
I had myself a chuckle, the day it went missing.

That’s not to say I didn’t try leaving them a note.

They’ll see it if they’re hungry enough.
...If they get to the bottom of the Chinese food I left on a counter overnight, at room temperature. Last week.
