Starting tomorrow my dash gonna be looking as if my s550 was a theft claim lol anyways so with the S650 Sync Module, I learned something, so the antenna connector is identical to the s550 as well as the media hub connector, however 1 small difference, theres a new connector not on ours which I was able to figure out, so looking at the wiring diagrams, our s550 uses a regular power and a ground for the back up camera... S650 uses a COAX cable which specifically is a Fakra Type F Brown cable that goes through the dash harness, then splits through the body harness to the camera, the S650 uses a whole new camera with this connector, so at the sync module its a male that goes to a female harness that has females on both ends and then to a male connection at the camera itself, I found a company that sells the cable (about 16ft) that im gonna use and purchase the s650 camera because from my research it is impossible to wire our s550 physical wires to a coax cable

Guys! And Girls! I did it!! Just kidding still have lots to go but heres the progress : so I stumbled, got back up, and stumbled to the point that I have no idea how I got to where its at now lol, so lots of troubleshooting, the stupid center screen wouldnt turn on no matter what i did, then i connected it to share power with the cluster and the cluster turned off, I couldn't start the car, it was a nightmare, checked fuses, wiring and so I went back to the diagrams, I ended up cutting wires 51-54 from the APIM Connector, then my tuner cobb accessport started acting up, wouldn't get past the "verify the start button is on", so After lots of thinking, I noticed wires 53 and 54 pins share 2 wires to 1 pin a piece, so I kept them disconnected but reconnected the 2 wires together on each pin and did not connect them to the APIM, sure enough, the tuner started working and everything tuned on!
S550 -
X : What i snipped
âś” : Let me clarify, so pin 53 had 2 wires go to 1 connection, same for pin 54, I did NOT connect pin 53 to pin 54, I had to cut 2 wires that was on pin 53 and another 2 wires that was on pin 54, then connected the 2 blue wires together, and the 2 white wires together to where basically both wires are looped

So new day new update, got my hvac module and gonna wire that up today, so yesterday none of the "My Mustang Features" were working, I'm assuming it was cause i was driving lol but now they do and I have all the custom gauges, also It is able to gather any and all info from the pcm like iat, boost etc on the center screen like it does on the cluster, i was worried cause theres no new connections that go from the cluster to the center screen or the modules, its all utilizing the S550 harness, my biggest hurdle was the post above, this is the FIRST S650 dash swap so there is no info but I'm lucky to have accomplished this much, anyways I'm gonna go back and delete whoever own this radio from whatever S650 they had devices cause theres over 12 devices connected lol

Some research, I will update this post but I have decided to find a epb module and I found one after looking at lots of electronic parking brake module wiring diagrams, the 2014 gen kia optima has the most basic and simple wiring diagram to control the brakes, has the same 4 switch input like the s650 hand brake and has dual polarity control built in versus me having to wire everything myself and messing up in the process, lets hope the module is more reliable then there motors :cwl: also its the cheapest i found too at $80

I have lots of parts coming in tomorrow, so ford the reverse camera, I did order the 2024+ with the fakra brown connector just in case but found a Unniversal Female Fakra to rca Female - https://a.co/d/0h6WGGNZ for a back up camera install for a aftermarket radio on amazon, I also found a RCA male to a 2 wire positive and negative - https://a.co/d/07Mbkhqq that I can theoretically splice into the stock S550 rear camera. I also ordered a full S650 dash harness that also comes in tomorrow so I can steal all the connectors to officially wire and lengthen the connections for the radio unit, front switch panel, push start, instrument display and center display, etc. I just received the S650 radio unit, parking drift brake assembly and the lower steering column shaft, I will be powering all off of the new modules and hardware that does not have an existing power and ground supply to this unit that has a ACC supply - https://a.co/d/0j7DV6zW I could tap into existing power and ground connectors but adding new equipment that runs on seperate systems vs our S550 where everything is in one module (front radio panel) so I can know exactly what unit is connected to the new fuse source.
I did run into an issue that luckily without even consulting any forums because I did not know anyone was attempting this on other ford models (sync 3 to 4), I cut the pin 53 & 54 exactly as others have done! Haha that is awesome that I figured that out myself and the reason I came across that was because I could not see the Sync 4 APIM in forscan, with the new version of forscan updated, I got a tip to plug in forscan to my S550 and not use the profile I already have on there and start new, reason for this is (not my words, I will confirm true or not) that when you hit yes for existing profile, it saves all the hardware that you had prior to the last time you saved through forscan so if I hit no, it will rescan all the new hardware or any hardware that is currently on the car because it doesn't have a profile to re-upload old info it has saved

Starting next week, I am going to have the whole dash removed, and hoping that the new S650 dash will be installed as well as the steering column (I CANT reuse the s550 column)

I kept getting an error when hitting no, found out my obd2 device was in ms instead of hs, once flipped, it connected and created a new profile and sure enough Sync 4 APIM popped up! Was able to program it without uploading my buddies s650 profile and messing up every single modules as built data on my s550! This was a simple issue that I seen a LOT of people having issues on the cyanlabs forums and f150 forums

Once all the other modules are wired, I will find out what I need to change and what issues will arise but looking good!
Also changed the splash screen to now match my cluster start up lol

Got the new dark horse door sills for a steal, $65 for both! Also got the ac trim DH panel as well from same seller midway mustang for $60 :like:
1000031283.webp
1000031284.webp

S650 door sills are a direct swap, clips line up in same spot and no modifications
1000031286.webp

Also finished up some wiring, need lots to go but coming together, my plan is the have the dash removed tomorrow, new dash in on Tuesday

Got the old dash out, steering column and the steering shaft, the s550 steering shaft could've fit the s650 column (same adapter and length) but I opted for the S650 to get rid of the rubber isolator so hoping the S650 feels more responsive in steering, anyways, I got more work left, I already got the steering shaft and column installed but haven't taken photos yet, I just received my upper dash pad and had to mount it to the dash frame before installation otherwise getting to the bolts underneath is impossible, check the progress though (also I have to somewhat finish it by tonight for work tomorrow lol reason for my dedication and motivation)

Heres the lower steering shaft, S550 on the left and S650 on the right (plus not only deleting the rubber isolator... also got like 82k original miles on mine so installing a 2k mile S650 shaft is A-OK with me)

Is there any chance the S650 SCCM would fit the S550 steering column? Also, are the turn signal and wiper switch connectors compatible? I don’t really like the look of the S650 switches. Would S550 switches work with the S650 SCCM?

Unfortunately the reason i swapped the column was cause I had to, the dash frame from a S650 only works with a S650 dash frame, and same goes for the switch assembly and clockspring, sadly some things wont swap over without other parts, getting them to work in meaning the s650 in my s550 should be easy with forscan changes meaning no auto wipers for example

It reminds me a bit of retrofitting a digital cluster into a pre-facelift S550. You had to swap the SCCM for a facelift version, otherwise the buttons would not work as intended, and there was no way to fix it through configuration alone.

Got lots of wiring done, I'm about 75% done, still have some APIM and Audio Module Wires but last one im saving till tomorrow is the Hvac module, seems overwhelming lol was at first cause i did not know what wire to start at, i did notice that the acm harnesses had more wires then my s550 acm had (audio control module), that was because these wires when to wires at the APIM, I'm assuming for communication but i followed the s650 diagram and s550
1000031437.webp

Also it sucks dailying a project lol I have no turn signals so i keep reaching for nothing smh now people think im a bimmer driver driving a mustang, but the pro of driving a project is always tinkering anytime im in it, been doing wiring before i clock in, on lunch and when i clock out

I got the A pillar tweets wired up since I had cut the connector for aftermarket kicker tweets, back to oe now but A pillar fits with no modifications, for a s550 retrofit, the bottom may need to be modified where is slides into the dash

I also got super lucky cause everything that i bought the cheapest (except the screens lol) were from a premium, so the dash harness had the 12 speaker package so i was able to wire up the center speaker!

Alright so good news! I got another update, steering column harness is done, so far I can only confirm since theres no gauge cluster in the car at the moment, but turn signals and wipers work as well as the high beams, I assume this is because the canbus high and low are communicating from S550 to S650 on same frequency, similar to the center screen being able to communicate to the cluster to change like mycolor and gauge face styles even though on the s550 original equipment, the radio only every communicated for traction, modes, and steering, again using s550 harness and marrying to s650 equipment, so now all I need is the last of the radio harness second connector, and hvac and dash will be fully installed back together
