As a data point for you, my service writer tells me that Ford Dealers will accept nearly any 3rd party ESP Policy, with a few caveats:
1. The Ford ESP policies pay the dealer’s going labor rate. Many 3rd party policies have a fixed labor rate and you get to pay any difference.
2. 3rd Party policies won’t cover speciality mods. For example, they had a guy bring in a Roush Stage 3 that blew a motor. The 3rd party policy would only pay for a basic 5.0 GT motor, and would not pay to move any of the Roush bits. So the car sat for months as the guy refused to pay the difference. They finally told the owner to come and get the car as it was his problem, not theirs.
Hmmm. This is good information.
