So I have a 2017 GT and I just picked up a set of Roush wheels, and per Roush they advise that I would need to install their 2015-2020 Mustang Steering Rack Stops & Clamps Kit (Part #421970).

Is that necessary if I go from the standard GT 19" wheels to their 20" wheels?

what are the specs on the wheels? Chances are, no those parts are not needed.

They are the Roush Forged 20x9.5 on all 4.
Tires are 275/35-20
That's what they recommend on their website, and they state that they install that on all of their Roush builds.

Well the Rouch forged 20x9.5" ET45 might rub a little on the fender liner at full lock, depending on what tires you have on there.

A little rubbing on the liner isn't a big deal at all, and you could easily drive around a little, testing full lock and decide to add them later if you think there is rubbing that's worth increasing your turning radius. Personally I'd rather rub a little than give up valuable turning radius, and be able to get into those tight parking spaces or U turns without doing a three point turn. Chances are you might not rub at all, but it is a little on the tight side for this specific wheel. IMHO a better option would be to try some hubcentric 5mm wheel spacers. since the front fit is not very aggressive at all (the front wheels are inset in the wheel wells as much as the factory wheels).

The stops will increase your turning radius to try to keep the tire from rubbing and they've been selling them since the S197 days. It makes Roush a little more money to sell $3 of parts and charge $30 for them. I don't think Roush would care much how necessary they are at that profit margin.
