Resurrecting this thread. Trying to figure out which McKee's kit to get for my new black GT350R. Please chime in if you know what the differences are. Gonna try and save $1k and do it myself...

Personally never used McKees. But I know it’s a lower grade coating. Check out Gtechniq EXO. It’s more professional grade, Two year coating and super easy to apply. I use Gtechniq on all my customers cars

@Drek08 , hey thanks. i've heard real good things about the mckee's though. easy application and 3 yrs coating coverage. i'll research a bit more though. thanks again.
McKees makes a good product for sure. Gtechniq has a 3 and 5 year coating as well. All extremely easy to apply. Gtechniq coatings are far more popular in the detailing world than McKee’s coatings for sure

A few posts up, I mentioned I had the Mckee's kit and when I finally got around to using it (a year later...) the paint coating was bad. Mckee's is going to send me another bottle in the Spring and I'll try again. So my advice it to make sure you use it within a few months of when you get it. I was really hoping to get it on before winter hit to really test it out, but it went from 62 to 18 degrees with 8" of snow the day after I finished!

In regards to the links you posted, it'll depend on what you are using to to prep the paint. I used Meguiar's Ultimate Compound with Meguiar's microfiber cutting pad and finished it off withe Carpro Essence and Meguiar's microfiber finishing pad. Since I used Carpro Essence to finish off, it also acts as a primer for coatings and shouldn't need a wipe down. Therefore, you wouldn't need the coating prep polish and can apply the coating right over it. If you already have a compound/polish, I would opt for something similar to the second link. The only issue I see with the second link is the paint coating appears to be the V1 formula and not the V2 (Si02 Enhanced). This kit appears to be similar and has the newest version of paint coating: https://www.amazon.com/McKees-37-De...3647&sr=1-6&keywords=mckee's+37+paint+coating

I ordered the McKee's 37 - 7100 kit for $100 shipped (25% off sale a few days ago). It says "new formula" at the link, so I am assuming it's got the V2 formula in it: https://www.mckees37.com/mk37-7100.html

Should arrive Monday and I am hoping to commit a whole day to the job in the next week or two. Will post results at my YouTube channel later on.

I just used the McKey's 37 ceramic coating on my new wheels. Did the prep work and applied a single coat on the front wheels and two coats of the product on the rears. Neither set seem to work that great if you want to just rinse the dirt/dust off of the wheels. After a hand wash, the wheels do pop.

My next trial will be with Cquartz UK 3.0 w/ Reload. Cquartz seems to hold up well according to independent testing by other forum users and on YouTube.

Not what I was looking forward to hearing. Does it come out and cleaner than before the coating? Is this simply using the hose or a power washer? Last week I got some McKee Hydro Blue Si02 in and did the entire car until I get time to actually coat it, but I'm looking forward to seeing how this stuff works until then.

It seems to have made a minor difference on my wheels. Using a hose or power washer still leaves the same hazy build up that the virgin paint gets when rinsed off. That is why I have to hand wash it.

I hope that mine is just a bad batch, since others have reported better results than mine. Hopefully you will too. Good luck
