What’s the view on diamondbrite and if worthwhile? Just ordered an MY19 and been offered it for £200 which doesn’t seem bad if it works as described.

From what i’ve heard it is good stuff, but horredously overpriced by Ford.

You’re better off going to a local detailer. You’ll get more for your money and no doubt a better product. I could reccomend places, depending on where you are based?

Save your money and get a professional detail done with products that last longer. Diamondbrite lasts about 3-6months and then needs reapplication whereas professional detailing products can last anywhere from a year to 8 years and potentially longer. I've had mine coated and it should last 5 years minimum and then every year after that I just have to apply spray on sealants to keep it tip top.

Ford do however price diamonbrite to "Include labour charge" which is a few hours of someone slapping It up with a foam pad lol.

Good point Manders. The Ford staff doing the application won’t be detailers so that’s worth considering, wouldn’t be surprised if it was done by the sales staff haha

Too many options to list for long term protection. Speak to a detailer, have a rough idea of what you want - including how you plan to maintain it and let them know your budget. Feel free to post on here for any second opinions :)

I was pleased with it, as it was put on for free and it lasted very well, so no complaints here

When I recently purchased my Mustang they through in Diamondbright as an incentive freebee. Salesman admitted that there was a huge markup on the product and also that he would apply it himself. I wasn't too bothered about either as I wasn't paying for it. Now that its been done I can only imagine he did it in his lunch break while answering the phone and eating at the same time. Not the best job done. I'd have been better off without it. As others have said pay extra and go pro.

Do you know if it is easy to un-apply? Mine had it done and I am considering a better ceramic coating application...

No idea. To be honest, I'm not convinced that it was ever applied, probably just had regular wax coating. Typical dealer bull shite to seal a deal.

I beleive so, you can buy specialist “strip wash” shampoo designed to take off any coatings. Its an essential step before a polish so any detailer should be able to remove it with no trouble

Ok, so I’m sensing may not be the best value for money then:shock:

Thought the diamondbrite sounded a good idea, but didn’t realise it was splashed on by the dealer!

As far as going to other detailers go, not something I can be arsed with or would want to pay for tbh. I’m not one to fuss too much about the car and can barely get round to washing:blush:. Anyway black looks mean with a layer of dirt:sunglasses:

This is probably the most important aspect here besides it being done by people who typically know nothing about detailing. The clearcoat needs to be cleaned properly and stepped up in layers. Even if a car is new off-the-lot, a clay bar, polish, coating, sealant, and wax is the way to go instead of applying a coating over gritty, unclean paint. Just bring it to a detail shop and tell them you want the works once a year (depending on the usage and mileage you out on.)
