Why isn't the Mustang sold in Israel?

I was very surprised that the Ford Israel site doesn't list the Mustang. You'd think that being a developed, "Western" country, there'd be somewhat of a demand for such a car, especially considering the close ties that Israel has to America, and the number of ex-pat Americans living there.
What's more odd, is that Israel's neighbour to the east, Jordan, does get the Mustang, despite having a smaller population!

Exclusive? We're not driving around in supercars here. It's just a Mustang.

Probably demographics or import regulations. I thought Israel was tree hugger country, but could be wrong. I do know every few months they announce another new electric car company startup.

Can you do a grey market import? I'm sure someone will ship for you. Or maybe buy in Jordan and drive across border into Israel?

If you ever attend any of the Mustang Club of America Mustang Anniversary events you would be amazed at the number of Mustang owners/fans from around the world that either bring their Mustangs at great cost or fly over and rent a Mustang for the show. There were hundreds of such fans at the 50th to see the 2015, and I don't mean just all of us Canucks.

I think that (certainly now at least) you can say that the Mustang is the Planet's Sports Car.

Interesting, I went to Israel in November of 2015, landed pretty late at night and drove to Haifa (about an hour drive). I saw exactly one car on the road that night, a white 2015 Mustang GT passed me about half way up. Wonder where they got it, if it is not sold in the country.

Probably the cost of certifying it and getting it to dealerships outweighed the profits from projected sales.

Ford opened a plant in Cologne, Germany around 1939. Also Henry Ford I, was criticised for suppossendy having close ties to Nazi-Germany. I have been told in the past that Jewish people usually don't buy Fords because of this. I'm not stating this as fact, only as what I've been told.

Often car companies will import a car because of the image boost that it gives the brand, even if it doesn't necessarily make a profit. The Mustang is a great image booster for Ford, and should be sold everywhere. I'm also certain that they could sell a few hundred a year and still make a profit. Here in Australia, for example, Ford imported about 200 Mustangs back in 2001 which were sold at a fairly high price. Someone would have done the maths and if there wasn't a profit in it, it wouldn't have happened. I also found a few *tiny* countries which sell the Mustang, like Estonia and Latvia (both with around 1-2 million people each!). If these tiny countries can make the numbers add up, then surely Israel, at nearly 9 million, can easily do it.

There is a FB site "American Car Club in Israel" There are many video postings. I have seen many new Mustangs in those videos
Ford was the first company to set up an assembly plant in Israel---for both Escorts and engines for the Israeli cars, Susita (horse) and Carmel, both now discontinued
The CEO of Ford, Mark Fields, is Jewish. and is as pro Israel as you can get (cf Henry Ford). Currently Ford products are all over Israel
