For reference, this was the original GT350 teaser

Rats. Regardless, someone seems to think that something is pretty definite on 1/19 so I'll just stick with that.

Private media event. Then this. Might be the GT500. Ford likes their anniversaries and 2017 is the GT500 50th.

Don't get your hopes up (says he, who's had his hopes up, and dashed!, since the LA Show in November lol).....I'm not expecting anything more than the Ecoboost and GT to be revealed next week. Anything else would just be a bonus :)

The 5.8L mention is just a leftover from previous cache's of the Ford site.

Without a new block and foundry a 5.0 block cannot handle a 5.8L displacement due to bore centers.

There *is* a new engine coming for the trucks (What one poster last year called "the new big block") but it's not this.

Chasing horsepower numbers is a never ending game.

I care about overall performance. If Ford can get the job done on 460 HP and offer the best performance at the price point while still being under Dodge/Chevy in terms of power..I'm okay with that.
Sounds fair to me

No, the 5.8L IS the new V8 for the GT. It has triple injection with DI, port and under piston injection. It has 16 spark plugs to ignite all this fuel and a compression ratio of 18:1. Because of this extra shit going on in the combustion chamber it is limited to only two valves. It will produce 798hp stock and Ford have guaranteed a further 300hp by fitting their performance pack.

In initial testing it has proved to give 56mpg on the highway and has less emissions than a Fiesta ST.

The engine will only be fitted to the first 500 cars which will be launched on April 1st to commemorate the 50 years since the GT500. These cars will be four wheel drive but will return to a live rear axle. the fuel tank will be fitted under the drivers seat to make room for the massive mufflers and leaf springs. The car will have only one seat as the dry sump tank will be fitted in place of the passenger seat. It will not be available as convertible. Colours are yet to be decided but a range of brown shades have been put to the designers, who will choose a light, dark and metallic shade of said brown colours.

This fantastic all new car will be first shown at the NEC Autosport show in the UK on Thursday 12th January. I am personally really looking forward to the launch.

I'm confused. Is the 5.8L V8 for the new Mustang GT? Ford GT? or Shelby GT500?
