The part arrived today and attaching it to the rear bumper should be easy. The issue is that the front mount on the DH/GT500/Mach 1 is different. Easy to make, but I am going to try and buy one.
Your issue isn’t CCA because unless it is cold out, you are using about 60% of the CCA. You increased the RC, that is what killed the old battery. A group 48 AGM had far more RC, so your discharge rate is much slower, providing higher state of charge after, say 10 minutes of running the sound...
I don’t know anything about XM D4800, but my bet is that it is a group 48 battery that is the same size as an H6. XM batteries, I believe, come from China, so it may mean something else from size standpoint.
UPDATE! That XM battery should have been a perfect for the S650 tray.
The S650 tray takes the H6 battery that is larger and far more common than the current battery. It bolts up, but you have to trim the top side by the firewall. I retired from Optima batteries and they didn’t have a battery that fit an S550 properly, so I did it as a test for them.
I should bolt up, problem is that it has scoops for the diff cooler and if the bumper doesn’t have holes in it like the Mach 1, the air will get trapped.
I did the 7 gen tray as well.
the Mach 1 and Dark Horse tray are designed to send air to the diff cooler, so I bought a GT one. They all attach the same way. The only think I don’t know yet is the rear fasteners and how to attach the tray to the bumper. I don’t really see it as a big deal.
I was looking under my Dark Horse and it has a rear belly pan to route air to the diff cooler. So, I looked under an S650 GT and it also has a rear belly pan, less complex but cleans up the look. I looked under my S550 and, except for the clips in the bumper, the front and mid mounts holes are...
I have a new Dark Horse with the Performance suspension and and S550 GT/CS. I drive them both on a regular basis and the S650, in my opinion, is far superior to S550, It drives better, has more power (i think that has more to do with rear gearing), soft touch door materials, and despite people...
I retired from OPTIMA and I also have an S650 that takes the H6. I bought a battery tray for a S650 and put it in my S550 so I could use the OPTIMA DH6 battery. Tray bolts in, but the top where it meets the firewall needs to be trimmed.
