I wouldn't expect it, Apple wants to much control and force you to use their apps.

Installed the usb hug part number that's in post 1 (HU5Z-19A387-A) and carplay works like a champ.

So the initial pictures of the yellow GT I hated, but other colors look okay. Still like my 2016 better.

Perfectly said. I got the 2.5, although I do plan on eventually installing a whipple it's a few years away so figured no reason to go with the 3 until then.

I'm old school so for me it's always a GT or higher.

I haven't had any issues with any non-apple apps since updating to iOS 10. Carplay is nice in iOS 10, you can rearrange the icons on the car radio screen now.
