This is exactly what happend to me when I had my old car serviced. They replaced the key fob, and about a year later, I found the original tucked deep underneath the windshield.

As an alternative to making permanent modifications to your key fob, you can disable the panic alarm with Forscan. You can also make it so it requires 2 button presses to activate which is how i have mine set.

I did mine with a dremel and a small drill bit (1/4 " or smaller). I drilled a hole into the corners of each honeycomb and then slid the drill bit sideways between the holes. The drill bit heats up from drilling and slides thru the plastic like a hot knife thru butter.

I had a similar thing happen to me. It took me a while to figure out that it was the subwoofer in the trunk that was loose. There is a single bolt that holds upper part of the subwoofer secure to the side of the trunk and it has a tendency to loosen.
