not needed but puts less stress on the factory harness and allows for neater rerouting. The factory harness as I recall had to be unclipped to give it just enough slack to connect to the MAF. For $20 it was worth it to me. Just a tweak. with and without:

good job. I haven't read all 300+ pages of this thread but I recommend buying a AFM extension harness if not already suggested. The stock harness was pulled real taut, this gives a lot of extra slack and peace of mind. Found an example online
