I would look at 275/40 as well. A little minor diameter difference is not a big deal. 275's often have better tire selection and are cheaper. Especially when running a 9.5" wheel instead of 10", as 285 is right at the max size for a 9.5" wheel. .
Updating my list of 18x10s, some of the ones...
Yeah I have never gotten the track insurance. I suspect it is one of those cases where if you need it, they work hard to figure out a way not to pay up. Plus I figure for some people, it encourages them to drive over their head.
SVE Drifts in 18x10 (+35) are pretty cheap.
Apex EC-7 (+43) are not so cheap, and you probably will want to run a 5mm spacer.
I hear even the Enkei PF01 fits in a 18x10.5 (+38) but that is maybe pushing it (you might need 2+ degress of camber to tuck them in, and maybe a front spacer)
While...
Yeah my initial though in seeing this tread is never let you wife see this or any track budget you put together. If she asks, distract her by asking how much she spends on shoes and clothes.
A related questions is how much did you spend for your Sports/Sporty Car? How much value do you get...
I think the flow formed LMR SVE wheels are hard to beat for the money.
19x10 is the easy button. I don't see the point is going narrower (the Mustang is relatively big and heavy and needs a pretty big tire), but going wider usually requires more work.
19's are generally LIGHTER AND CHEAPER...
"When you spin, both feet in" used to be the rule. Even with an auto, I would think getting on the brakes would reduce the rolling backwards issue.
Plus a car that is left to roll after a spin can often shoot rather unexpectedly to one direction or the other as it slows and the tires regain...
I would talk to Steeda. But in general I wouldn't run a front (or rear) only bar that is bought as (intended for use as) a set. If I wanted to tighten up the car, if would just adjust them to stiff/soft. The rates from stock to aftermarket bars can be very different such that they don't mix...
BC Racing makes a wide range of options. Is the bad reputation for just the (probably best selling) cheapest possible option set to the lowest possible ride height?
Isn't the biggest problem with the Darkhorse/650 a lack of feedback? Seems like it gets a lot of complaints about zero (or negative) steering feel. And occasional complaints about the brake by wire not having good feel.
Sure it puts up good numbers, but how much of that is due to the super...
I think I compared the gears years ago, and the 2015 6 speed with 3.73 PP diff ratio was quite a bit shorter in gearing in first compared to a 1970 Drag Pack car with a 4.30 diff.
It looked to me like the 3.31 was the best option. Though admittedly I was autocrossing at the time, and a taller...
Problem is the Dark Horse is getting ever closer to Corvette prices. And while the Corvette may have a somewhat ugly rear end, the S650 has a somewhat ugly front end. Given the choice between a Corvette and Mustang at similar prices, I am going to lean towards the Corvette.
You can't really...
Like Craig said, I have had more trouble with metal stems than rubber ones. Street and Track.
Never heard of a 115 mph limit. If they were only good for 115 surely the SCCA wouldn't allow them for track use. IIRC 3 out of my 4 sets of my wheels for the Spec Racer Ford (that often sees 120 +)...
Yeah all the insurance companies seem to reward loyal customers by cranking up their rates after a couple of years. Even as their cars depreciate and are less of a risk.
I have used a lot of companies (including Progressive), and mostly not had accidents. So how much extra is good customer...
