On a good track the base model is probably quicker, but I didn't confirm this. My guess is 10.30-10.40 with tires in sea-level weather at a good track like Atco or Cecil County. I'm planning to find out for sure though.
To answer your questions: 6 coolers and pumps (with extra fluids), huge brakes (16.5-inch rotors!), computers, DCT is not light, airbags everywhere, etc. Heavy yes, but awesome performance. The trans shifts in under 100 milliseconds, and it doesn't slip, at least you don't feel it. One really...

Thank everyone, I'm still waiting for my story on HotRod.com to post. That's where I explain in detail how I drove the car and what you'll need to do to equal or better my times. I'm hoping to get another GT500 to do some testing in "Hero" air.

I was able to drive the car on Saturday, on the street, drag strip and road course. I will post a link to my story on Hot Rod tomorrow and I will also post my time slips here if anyone is interested. Stay tuned!
I ran these cars extensively for Ford and for magazine testing and never got close to 11.25. I'm not saying it didn't happen but I'd like to see it with my own eyes. Either way, they are fun cars.
Also... keep in mind this is a press launch with a variety of journalists, some with little-to-no drag racing experience, at Las Vegas (non-sea level). All it can say is stay tuned!
